Kind of "funny" that most people over at ARMA forum are positive at these news
but the sour grapes runs loose over here.

personally im really looking forward to this game, russians are good at sims.

Looks interesting, for sure. Like Jedi I'll wait and reserve judgement for when it comes out. I hope they preserve the fully-featured editor of ArmA2/OA - I can see some really interesting scenarios coming out of this.

If they can stay off Steam (and in fact keep the game DRM free like BIS does) that alone will make it an interesting competition to RO2. Also I'm fairly sure the squad and vehicle commanding in this title - seeing what the underlying engine can do - will offer much better options than RO2 can implement on the Unreal3 engine.

Liberation was a great mod in OFP days, and whole Inv44 is not bad for Arma2, after my testing I found a lot of inconsistent behaviour with the units, weapons, mostly AI problems basically. A good WW2 "Full Game" will have to deal with these issues in a way that mod maybe can not.

Just for you, I hear they're making it a Steam-only release because they like to point and laugh at people who hate Steam.

To be accurate, BIS has had securom on their releases. They do remove it after so many patches though. Arma 1 & 2 both had it cut, OA still does but they've said that the practice will be continued.

If this is simply a paid mod for ArmA 2 AO I will skip it.

They would need to make functional AI that can hit a target 20 meters in front of them, a proper mission editor UI, vehicle AI that can stay on their waypoints on the roads without diverting and getting stuck on fences, weapon animations (no animations for bolt actions would be lame, immersion killing, and awkward) and a decent squad control interface at minimum for me to buy it.

Sadly, I think this will just be the case as with ArmA 2 and OA... just a tiny bit of improvements (that should have been released for free as bug fixes in ArmA 1, such as reloading while walking) but largely the same dysfunctional game.

It is a shame to.

I think for OA you have beta patches with no securom?

BIS never gave me the feeling that they want to control my game time or when/where I'm allowed to play it. I really value them for that alone.

Yes, the Betas have always been clean to ease use/installation/removal.

No need to convince me of BIS, they are one of a handful that sets the bar for support in my eyes. smile

The original Lib mod had its own modules which handled penetration, lethality after penetration and tread damage. They also had excellent "sniper" gameplay - with dusty distorted sights...

While we're at it - a game's "moderness" should not be determined solely by the DX version it uses and how much the bloom is overdone. Graphics may be the defining feature of lesser genres but we have code!
