This error lately has occurred often in different campaigns, when a sub-campaign ends and next should start. So far, I've three campaign blocked. Dgen is 4.0.8.6.

Please, help!

Can you give more specifics. Are these campaigns you modified?

No, I didn't. But cruising speed values in Europlanes.dat and in all involved *planes.dat files of French Wings 1940-1945.

First blocked campaign is in folder "dgen_5_frontiers4100" and gave already troubles earlier, until I was suggested to recover repeating last line in Campaign.ini. Unfortunately, I don't know how to detect which campaign is after has started. 59 missions have been played before this glitch.

Second blocked campaign is from French Wings 1940-1945 for MOD, since I run HSFX 5.0.1. I played a dozen of campaigns so far without problems, but this, featuring Group de Chasse I/5 "Champagne", has blocked twice at end of two different sub-campaigns. I read author warning not to set UseParkedPlanes=1 just to avoid this glitch, but mine is set to 0 (UseParkedPlanes=0).

Here follows last bit of DGenError I got for first blocked campaign:

...

Inherits operations from DGen\opsBagration44-E.dat
MissionDistance set, testing DGen\Bagration44Red0.mis
Can't open!
MissionDistance set, testing DGen\Bagration44Blue0.mis

DGen: can't pickup starting base for new campaign

Thanks for your help,
GB

Can you start the subcampaign independently?

Do you have those files (Bagration44Blue0.mis and *Red0.mis) in your DGen folder?

Have you tried running it without the mission distance set?

No, I don't.

Right now I tried after your question and it didn't work.

Thank you really very much Nimits, but don't worry; I deleted those bugged careers. BTW, I got your campaigns when I downloadede and installed EnjoyR for no mods, at least I think so having read your Readme's among EnjoyR documentation. But I'm unable to understand when I'm playing a campaign of yours, since no mention is done in their description when I start one of them. I've four campaigns listed for USN to choose from, two for bombers and two for fighters: would be glad to know which are yours. Excuse me for my ignorance and thanks again.

Yeah, True Pacific was supposed to be a replacement for the default campaigns, but Enjoyer included both. Ones with names like "Carrier Division Fighter" or "1st Air Fleet Dive Bomber" are mine. The default just say USN Fighter or some such.

Most of the time, I saw "can't pick starting base" errors when the campaign files had inadvertently been set up to have one side control the entire map (or at least all the airbases on the map), but that does not seem to be the case from your log. It looks like the game is looking for .mis files that it can't find, but I don't have a quick answer on the fix (aside from maybe copying and renaming BagrationRed/Blue.mis to BagrationRed/Blue0.mis), if that is the case.

Thank you, Nimits.

So I just started the right career, since it was named "Carrier" fighter. Noticed a pretty high cruise speed for F4F3 and was curious to watch related Planes.dat: it is 360 km/h; quite high, although still manageable in 4.10.1 without melting engine smile . I guess that makes sense in your general design and I'm eager to go on.

Cheers,
GB

Got it!

Cause of corrupted careers when switching from a sub-campaign to next one was DGen option UseParkedPlanes,
although set =0 (I cross-checked twice).

Vtrelut wrote to put a ";" before the line UseParkedPlanes=1 and I thought setting =0 was the same.

ACtually, I bet that is the default cruise (or a typo). I was working on a corrected (generally slower) one, but I honestly don't remember if I ever finished/included it. The F4F-3 should cruise around 175 kts (~320kph).

Stock cruise speed is 360, indeed. IL-2 sets cruise speed as IAS and this latter can be much different from customary TAS (the one always mentioned in official data). Please see following graph, about F4F-3:

at altitude, this speed could be unattainable.

I tend to give about 80 km/h less than top IAS at altitude; for F4F-3 I set 270 km/h in PacificPlanes.dat. If you agree, I could try to update all your *planes.dat about cruise speed, according to this criterion.

S!
