My current screen is wide 1920x1080 which is 16:9 but I am getting really enjoyable results using the d3d windower which fixes both mouse stuttering and the target selection map hassles.

My hook.ini allows me to select my eaw.exe from either my GameRanger folder (1.28E/F) or my 1.3 folder which I am using for the EAW 1.3 development.

[KnownProgram]
C:\EAW1.3\eaw.exe=eaw1.3
C:\EAWGameranger\eaw.exe=eaw1.28E
[Prog.eaw]
UseWindowMode=1
UseGDI=1
UseDirect3D=1
UseDirectInput=0
UseDirectDraw=1
CommandLine=
Width=0
Height=0
MenuId=
ShowFps=0
UseForegroundControl=0
UseDDrawColorEmulate=1
UseDDrawFlipBlt=0
UseDDrawColorConvert=1
UseDDrawPrimaryBlt=1
UseDDrawAutoBlt=0
UseDDrawEmulate=0
UseDDrawPrimaryLost=0
SubModule0=
UseCursorMsg=0
UseCursorSet=0
UseCursorGet=0
UseCursorClip=0
UseSpeedHack=0
SpeedHackMultiple=10
UseBackgroundResize=0
UseBackgroundPriority=0
DDrawBltWait=-1
UseFGCGetActiveWindow=1
UseFGCGetForegroundWindow=0
UseFGCFixedWindowPosition=0
EnableExtraKey=0

Because width and height are set to zero the game uses the natural size of the game selection screens (1024x768), and the size of the display set in my eaw.ini file which I have deliberately set to 1680x1050. The selection screens have no distortion, and the ingame height just fits beautifully on my screen.

Very useful Jel - thanks for the tip about about height and width = 0. Have now set to this and certainly works better.

One thing that is sometimes not clear to first time users is that EAW must be launched using the windower. Some folks have falsely assumed that if you run the windower and launch EAW independently that the windower will work. It does not.
With the 1.3 development and the upgrading of old scenarios happening I have three EAW folders- 1.3, 1.28c, and 1.28e. The path to each exe has been set, so three icons appear in the windower screen:

To launch EAW I just double click on the appropriate icon smile

Win 7 users please note:
Setting the active exe by choosing one, clicking the blue triangle, then launching EAW independently used to work for me in Vista, but no longer on this PC running Windows 7.

Geez, your photo examples make me weep.
I'm just having litle to no luck getting EAW up to your displays.
I'm old & beat and can't do the dance anymore without some hand holding.
