Let me know how you like it. Maybe see you online sometime. The biggest complaint about this game is the relative lack of online players.
Generally people prefer the ASSAULT and CONQUEST modes (PVP) to the SWARM modes (CO-OP) which leaves me out unless I want to die a whole lot real quick. You need XP to unlock better weapons/armor etc. which can only be accumulated in an ONLINE server of MEDIUM or HIGHER difficulty with at least 3 humans (or something like that), so the new player is at a distinct disadvantage against totally leveled up Mad Dog Killerz. When you are on the same side as said Mad Dog Killerz on a SWARM server, it helps keep you alive long enough to boost your XP (as well as being somewhat more fun, at least for me)

I didn't notice the original Section 8 on sale. Curious what that is like too. Seems much the same but NO COOP mode.

Thanks for the tutorial links, Recluse. That PDF looks like it will come in quite handy. Might be a while before I get around to playing it though with all that I have lined up. Also my daughter gifted me DCS A-10 Warthog while it was on sale.
