Hi folks,

Hope you are all well!

I've just been catching up with AF after a six month break and have been trying to get TFR to work with no luck! It just displays TFR Off in the middle of the MFD. I've done an Internet search and have found results that state that it is only available in a block 40 and you need the FLIR pod which needs to be enabled first before you can use TFR.

Is this correct as it seems a little odd!? I don't see how TFR is dependant on FLIR! If it's not correct, what am I missing to get it to work as the manual doesn't specify any specific requirements?

Thanks for all your help
Rob

Hello

No need at all for FLIR to be "On" if you want to use the TFR.
Where have you read that??

No TFR available in training: the dual Viper doesn't have it. Don't ask me why.
I confirm that Block 5x and MLU do have the TFR yep

But I don't remember about the Block 4x and the CCIP variants. Never used the TFR much.

I never finish anyth

IRL the TFR is in the LANTIRN nav pod, so you do have to have the pod loaded. Can't remember if its the same in AF though (highly doubt it). Block 40s were the first F-16s to get it BTW, newer blocks don't really rely on it as today they prefer NVGs when available.

Are you sure you are selecting the TFR MFD page? I don't think I've ever seen the TFR OFF message in Falcon.

Thanks for the responses!

Without trying any of the suggestions I think Comet nailed it - I've been trying it in Training as I thought that would be the best place to do it before using it on a mission. smile

Interesting to read that it's not really used - I've never used it before or missed it on a mission, but just though it may be useful on a deep strike mission sometime so thought I'd check it out.

This is the thread I found about having to turn on FLIR first (didn't think it seemed correct but then as I couldn't get it to work, thought there may be some 'truth' in it).
