Christ with the barrel on that .44 it's no wonder your arm got tired! I've got a Dan Wesson pistol pack(interchangeable barrels). I've never felt the need to put the 8" barrel on...

I have a Sig 556 and I love that firearm, all controls for locking bolt setting mags and racking can be done from support hand. I am thinking of changing out the fore grips when I start to shoot 3 gun as the ergonomics of the grips does not allow my hand to really form around the grip, makes target accusition harder and slower.

How do you like the Sig compared to the AR platform?

Speedo, Actually I really like it. In general the feel of the firearm is better to me. When I change the fore grips it may slightly change the way it sits in my hand but for competion I feel I will gain more then I lose. In fact I wish sig made a 308 version I would pick that up in a heart beat.

Shooting fun overload! Yesterday and today I went shooting. Yesterday between 3 people we had 10 rifles and 3 pistols. Rifles: FN SCAR, FN SPR A1a, M44, M91/30 scoped (x2), Yugoslavian K98, Some AR thingy, some AK thingy, SVT40 and Garand! SWEET! Today was 600 yards fun. 600 yards target with 10x scope. 25x scope. Bloody excellent!

SwissArms is seriously thinking of making one in .308w/7.62N, but since there would be no/few mil sales, the projected retail was around $4000 US. Which suggests only modest probability. They showed off a prototype at SHOT a year ago, they called it the SAPR.

Here's the current setup with my freshly cleaned ACR after my most recent trip to the range. I really like this setup so it's likely to stay this way; its only other accessory is a light & mount I have to hang from one of the side rails. Pictured with my newest 1911, a Parkerized S.A. with Trijicon night sights (love this one too), and my assault blade with a lanyard I made for it (not bad for a first attempt making these). The components on the ACR are 3 short Magpul MOE rails (at 3, 6, & 9 o’clock), and a Harris notched leg bipod attached with an American Defense Mfg. quick-release adaptor. The optic is a 4 X 32 Trijicon TA31F ACOG with illuminated red chevron reticle and BDC markings; it's mounted with a TA51 flattop adapter and outfitted with a TA91 Tennebraex Killflash ARD and TA90 flip caps. Here's a zombie target I shot up at 100 meters, rapid fire using the BAC style aiming that works so well with the ACOG sight; aiming for the brainstem of course. I also spent a few rounds trying to hit the zombie's right eyeball too, but stopped once I saw I'd hit the color of his "good eye"; though I think many of impacts to the right and left are just bad brainstem shots. There's a piece of blue cardstock behind the target to make the hits stand out.

Nice pics, Sim! I had a lot of fun with you on Saturday, though my hand is a bit sore from firing that tiny pistol. I just wish I'd known it was two lousy screws on my Mosin sniper that were keeping me from shooting it properly.

I just wish I'd known it was two lousy screws on my Mosin sniper that were keeping me from shooting it properly. I had a bunch of fun as well. Especially shooting SVT - that's one excellent rifle. I don't want to start fights, but it maybe be better than garand! And yeah, "noisy cricket" sure hurts for few days after. It's not a range shooter gun, but a defense pistol. Oh, and post results of M91 once you get it re-sighted. I love its trigger and I have a feeling it might be mighty accurate. Not shooting pennies at 100 yards accurate, but close to it.
