Yeah, that was one wacky film! Though, strangely, Sean Young's monotone acting fit perfectly amidst all the self-whispering.

I absolutely LOVE the David Lynch "Dune" film even with its few warts.
I don't know how many of you know this but it should be noted that Lynch did NOT have final cut for the film. There were a lot of things cut out and changed from the film that were not his decision.

Another Dune fan here!
Here's something that I still laugh at, though . . . the 1960's Batmanesque villains who are charged with taking Paul and his mother to the desert to die. Paul tried for the first time to use the voice and one of the bad guys says something to the effect of, "Did you hear the little one speak?" And the second one says, "The 'little one,' heh heh heh heh hehhhhhhh!" Ultra cheesy, but it never actually bothered me.

Hey Panzermeyer, maybe you can answer this question. There is a quote on IMDB that I don't recognize as being from the 1984 Lynch version of Dune, but then it might have been on the extended version. I don't believe it was in the theatrical version, in fact I'm almost sure it wasn't. Also, I seem to recall the subject of the quote being discussed in the SciFy version of Dune. Can you tell? Here is the quote: Paul: Irulan shall be my wife, opening the way for an Atreides to take the throne.
Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV: I sit on the throne!
Paul: You will sit on the throne on Selusa Secundus, your prison planet. Either that, or you will die.
[he walks towards Chani]

This is from a deleted scene that was included on the most recent Dune dvd release. It had the theatrical version on one side of the dvd and the extended version on the other side. I believe the bluray release also has both versions.

Oh there's a funny goof you should look for the next time you watch the extended version. Early in the film when Reverend Mother Mohaim leaves Kaitain for Caladan, there's a very quick shot where you see her riding in the cockpit section of a space ship. The problem is that the two pilots you see are Harkonnens. Oops. Looks like they edited in a shot from when Jessica and Paul were bound & gagged but didn't realize that the pilots could not have been Harkonnens when Mohaim left Kaitain.

IIRC the Bluray of Dune has only the theatrical release and the featurettes from the DVD release. The unoffical extended release is on DVD only.
