I got a few screens that come with an old VGA cable, but my video cards are now DVI. I was wondering if I can use a 15-pin DVI adapter or should I buy a 25-pin one? Just scouring eBay for deals and found out about this difference.

Apparently a few are being sold from Hong Kong or China, prefer to buy from a UK-based seller. Here's the eBay search page.

Why spend money? Ask a friend, neighbour or the IT department at work. Odds are you'll have one on friday. smile

make sure your GPUs have DVI with the Analog PINS,

there is a FLAT pin on the Left Side of the Female Port, For the DVI Port to be Analog, you must have the 4 pins/holes (2 on top 2 on bottom).

the only difference between 25 and 15 is 15 is Single Channel and 25 is Dual Channel

Thanks SkateZilla. What do you mean by Dual/Single channel? Just connecting an old CRT monitor and an old LCD monitor...

JAMF, wish I could. Do you have any? smile

Check the back of your graphics card and compare it to the chart Skatezilla provided. I (and others nearer to you) can check which we have lying around. Most graphics cards have one in their box, casually dropped in amongst the rest of the bundled items.

DVI-I Dual Link was setup so if you had 2 Monitors that supported Dual Link you could drive 2 screens off one DVD-DL Port.

That fell through in Favor of HDMI and Display Port 1.2

For high res displays you would also need DVI-DL. SL limit is about 1920x1200, because the next standard resolution lies above it's limit.
