UK-armour (a newly formed virtual-tank unit) together with PzBtl-911 did a joint battle on the NTC(NATO-training center)-BERGEN HOHNE.

Situation and plan:

ENEMY forces (MechRgt) are attacking east of FALLINGBOSTEL and have broken an Inf company on the german right flank.
Probale intent is to attack further to the north toward SOLTAU.

German units are forming TF-AZUR a have a tank sqn(-) attached to them.

ORBAT, TF-AZUR:
2 platoons Grenadiers
1 tank platoon(Leo2A5)
2 troops Challenger 2
1 section engineers
1 section recon
1 AD-tank
(10 IFV, 4 Leo2A5, 7 CR2)
There where 15 players from PzBtl911 and 7 Players from UK armour...so all AFV-manned!!!

Ah, and yes: as we where the Bde point of main effort...we where supported by 3 batteries of 155mm :-D

MISSION: TF AZUR is to march west and then Attack south IOT restablish own FEBA (forward edge of the battle area) and take
STAFFELSBERG and GOLDBOCKENBERG.

The planned route, overwatched by the Air-defense tank

The march to our attack went smoothly. Only our vanguard was engaged by enemy troops(probably an irregular sabotage team), but quickly took them down.

After reaching the staging ground, we prepared to attack.
1 hurdle: get across the open ground of Range 20 and 21. We expected enemy combat recon team there.
Idea was to let the scouts go ahead. Bind the enemy with the grenadiers and tank troops from the north...then flank him
with the Leo2A5 platoon. Well, this went well:

Our scouts found the enemy 1st

And we gave them some arty for good measure ;-)

ENY recon on the map

Meanwhile the combat unit reached their assault positions:

The german tanks reached their BP last, but fired the first shot of the battle, which gutted a poor BRDM

Further to the north-west the britsh tanks found their foe's and engaged:

While I was still on my way to get eyes on range 20:

Right and left of the british tanks, our grenadiers used the cover by the tanks to move forward and engage:

Their first victim may not look like much, but was indeed the most dangerous foe on that field. An enemy art.-observer:

as promised...part 2.
Well, I just realized a have miss spelled the headline :-(. It was supposed to be JoinT Ex.

Where were we?
Right, we knocked out the enemy vanguard or combat recon team(??) with a nice "hammer & anvil" move

OPFOR put up some fight

But we had them under crossing fires, and with the help of some arty fire they were undone within 2 mike... WILDE ASCH was taken.

The next stage was the advance to HANDWEISER and the grenadiers took the lead. The plan was to move along 2 routes thought the wooded areas to take HANDWEISER and
prepare to assault over the FISCHENDORFER BACH
The enemy was still in the preparing for their attack, so we where able to take them by surprize. Kocking out one platoon after the other(while they where still on the march)

We where able to move south without meeting significant resistance

Only at HANDWEISER itself there was some organized defense. And enemy BMP-2 platoon defended mounted and dissmounted.

Bravo platoon showed a good Grenadier drill "DRAN-DRAUF-DRÜBER" ;-) Binding the enemy from the front, they flanked them through the wood and attacked their right flnak in a mounted/dissmounted attack.

After that we became a wee bit diaorganized, which allowed the enemy to get close to a CR2 troop. However Dorchester armour vs RPG-7 3:nill :-D

With HANDWEISER beeing firmly in our hand. TF-AZUR took a break to rearm/repair and start recon team towards possible crossing point over the FISCHENDORFER BACH IOT start our final assault there.

stay tuned for the last part: assault over FISCHEDORFER BACH

Lets move on.
The recon teams moved towards FISCHENDORFER BACH and found 2 passing points. The problem was that we where moving out of narrow lanes in the wood. Therefor we could not get enough tubes to the front to run a "forced crossing". The idea was to bind them on one crossing point...rush over the other and then kick them in the back (again "hammer and anvil" style)

On the northern crossing point the Challys and our grenadiers faced an enemy tank unit and got pinned down.

Note:T-80 gun mantle is not protected by ERA...this T-80 crew gets the news by a 120mm HESH round thumbsup

On the southern crossing the enemy bring a knife to a shootout and get pushed away

The guarding T-80 try to fall back, but to late. The Leo2A5 platoon is allready in their flank.

TF AZUR now moved south of FISCHENDORFER BACH and pushed on to out final OBJ

We moved towards GOLDBOCKENBERG with the IFV on the left, tanks on the right side.
The OPFOR made a last stand, and counteratatcked with an T-80 company. As they where not fully developed when our units hit them...it was fast violent and we came out the victor!
Though even the Leopard is not invulnerable :-(

At the end and after 3 hours of game time: OBJ taken, and TF AZUR at 60% combat strength. Not a glorious victory, but still a victory ;-)
