I've only ever used a Logitech MOMO wheel and I loved it, though I felt that the brake pedal was too soft and could be stiffened up a bit. With the new and delicious racing sims coming up, I was looking around eBay for prices on the wheels and was thrilled with the "going cost" of the MOMO. However, I realize this is a rather old wheel and so looked at the G25 and G27 as well.
I was wondering if anyone could give me "feel" comparisons between the Logitech MOMO and the G25 or G27... or if you only have one wheel, describe it anyway.
As for my MOMO, I played rFactor 1 on it and loved how it made me "feel the tyre's grip" which roughly translates to the wheel becoming stiffer and stiffer "at the edge of grip" then suddenly goes relaxed as I lose grip. It also shivers and shudders when I go over the berms. As for the pedals, well, I would usually just mash the gas pedal anyway but later learned to listen to tyre squeal and ease off the gas a bit. Like I said earlier, the brake pedal was a bit soft for my taste.
Looking at the G25, I am excited about using the clutch again... and learning heel-toe braking. Do the current crop of sims support these "advanced" driving styles?
Coming from the MOMO you will love the G25 or G27, they are actually very close to the same wheel with the minor differences being the G27 being a bit quieter and allowing for the pedal pads to be adjustable and with a few more buttons on the wheel and on the other hand the main benefit of the G25 being a sequential mode on the shifter which the G27 doesn't have, I'm guessing they removed that for long term shifter durability.
As far as heel and toe shifting in the current crop of sims, I use it whenever driving period cars where that would be used in real life, and can confirm it works great with with the following: rFactor1 Historix mod + Grinding Tranny Mod rFactor 2 iRacing Those actually reward the smooth engine and rpm matching during the shift or can break the traction if the blip is not the right rpm or if the clutch is not used, the rest of the current sims also support heel and toe but in most cases the tranny model is not advanced enough to model grinding or traction break when you mess up the heel toe, so I use it mostly for immersion.
Since you want to heel toe I would recommend the G27 over the G25 for the pedal pad adjustability which is often helpful for heel and toe.

Can't really add much to what Kludger said. The G25/7 are a significant step up from the momo. Both in the fidelity of the FF but also the pedals which are massively superior.
If you can find either one for a good price then don't hesitate. You'll be impressed with the improvement. If you can live without the sequential mode shifter then the G27 pedals have great adjustability and will enable you to heel and toe nicely.

If you are somebody who rather has his buttons on the wheel itself than on the shifter or on a button box, stay far away from the G25. Imho the two front-side buttons don't cut in current simulations anymore.
I had a MOMO for years and I can say, without a doubt, the improvement in pedals alone is worth the cost of upgrading from a MOMO to a G27. Also, the G27's FFB (dual motors I believe) is much, much better than the MOMO's. The FFB feel in rF1 between the MOMO and the G27 cannot really be compared, especially with those mods that are built to use RealFeel or Leo's FFB plugins.
It is an upgrade that is worth both time and consistency on the virtual track.

I've had the G27 for... well, I don't remember how long now... and the only thing I wish it had was the sequential shifter. I'll probably buy a stand-alone shifter for that. And I'm considering upgrading the brake with the AP Electrix Load Cell Mod. Other than that, the G27 is great equipment!!
If you don't want to spend a lot on a load cell mod, I can whole heartedly suggest the Nixim Brake mod. Got one of them shortly after my G27 arrived, and it's worth twice it's price. The progressive spring adds so much feel to the pedal, really allows you to feel the curve of a real brake. Little response in the first part of the travel, then it firms up considerably as the brakes bite down. The little rubber insert is actually amazing too. Considering it is literally just a lump of rubber, it prevents you hitting that unrealistic stop in the travel, and just locks up the pedal.

Thanks for the feedback guys. As for comparison on MOMO and G27, does this apply to MOMO and G25 as well? Seems like the G27 is priced way beyond my reach at the moment. Or at least beyond the point wherein my wife would allow.
From what I've read they are very similar indeed. The reviews I've read (A lot, I'm too anal and not very impulsive when it comes to making purchases!) It seems that the biggest differences are what Kludger has already said. The straight cut gears in the G25 make it a little more whiney sounding under fast movement, where the helical gears of the G27 make it sound smoother and quieter.
The pedals are VERY similar, it's really just the adjustability and slight lifting of the Brake and Clutch pedals that's different. The guts are the same. The biggest thing for me though is the limitation of buttons on the G25. I don't use the shifter because of space limitations (You know my cockpit Ice!), only the paddles, so having only 2 buttons would be a huge downer for me, I'd have to build a button box.
But as far as FFB and overall feel goes, I think you'd be incredibly happy with the G25.
This video shows the G27 in great depth, and from memory it gives a pretty good insight to the differences between it and the older G25. Jessica Lopez is pretty hot too :P
