Hi guy i just finish the first few Training lesson and have been flying a few of my own NAv and landing Ex,
The problem i face is that how do i get the A10c to be on Autopilot? Is there some step i miss out? I want it to be able to be on ALT/HDG so i can prep for my landing... Please advice.

Cheers

1.) Make sure EAC is ON.
2.) Make sure the AP is set to ALT/HDG
3.) Engage AP, preferably when flying straight and level

It won't engage past certain degrees of turn or climb/dive.

You know you have 3 autopilot options, right?

Path - holds heading and will hold pitch up/down up to a certain degree, I think. Useful for slow 5-10 degree climbs to altitude, or descents.
ALT/HDG - holds heading and altitude. You need to be straight-and-level +/- 5 degrees bank/pitch and it will engage. Any more bank/pitch and it won't engage.
ALT - holds altitude. Useful for establishing orbits... put throttle on full and bank up to 60-75 degrees (45 is useful and the aircraft won't have much trouble keeping speed and alt). Won't engage if you are pitched up/down more than 5 degrees or so.

Note that the limits (+/- 5 degrees) are guesstimates, see the manual for the real numbers. Basically you have to be within certain parameters for the appropriate AP mode to engage, if you try the AP and it isn't coming on, check if you are within parameters.

Hope that helps.

Boo_saa -
Here's one guide to try out - I know this one works... smile
Wrecking Crew's Start Up Guide

Yes, you likely have a switch in the wrong position. Do you have Caution Panel warnings lit?

Try it again on an instant action mission with your jet either warmed up and lined up on the runway or even better, already in the air. All relevant switches and stuff should be turned on and working.

Then I want you to do the following steps once you are up in the air and fairly straight-and-level:
1. Check what AP mode you are on by VISUALLY checking the toggle switch in the in-game cockpit. Verify if it is on PATH, ALT/HDG, or ALT. I think it defaults to ALT/HDG, but regardless, verify which mode it is on.
2. Change your AP mode to whatever mode you want it to be. Visually check again in-cockpit that the toggle switch is in the appropriate position.
3. Configure your aircraft so that the AP **should** come on. For example, if you chose ALT, be nose-level and bank about 45 degrees. If you chose ALT/HDG, be nose-level and wings-level.
4. Engage the AP. You will NOT hear a confirmation that the AP has come on, but should be displayed on the left lower side of the HUD. If you move your aircraft to override the AP, you will hear a warning.

I hope that helps you out.

BTW, not seeing the FPM/TVV on the HUD may mean you are going too slow and are about to stall? If you are going full-throttle, but still cannot engage AP and still cannot see the FPM, then something is wrong with your aircraft.
