Wife and I decided to sell some investment $ and take a tax hit while it is still long term. The purchase, you ask? Our HOUSE!! So, we will go this month , get the payoff number, and satisfaction instrument write the check and we are done at 41!

Congrats, it's a great feeling knowing that you now own your own home, I was about 10 years older than you when I got to that point, 5 years later now and still debt free

Excellent! I rent so I'll always have some debt, but I guess when you figure property taxes no homeowner is 100% debt free. I've only had 1 car payment in my life, otherwise I spend a few grand at most every 3-5 years and buy an older vehicle. As a professional mechanic I can keep them running for a long time, it's usually rust that sends them off to the great salvage yard in the sky. I keep 2 small credit cards for emergencies when traveling or if I need to rent a car, other than that I have no revolving debt. And I plan on keeping it that way!

Congratulations Airdrop. Of course though if you're an American taxpayer, you aren't really debt free. We can't forget about our individual share of the national debt.
