Uh, most of the memberships are CEO's of blue chip companies. Do you really think they don't "receive money from the government"? Or, even better, you don't think these CEO's are making contributions both legally and illegally to the government?

I think IBM should just pull its sponsorship from the PGA, but they won't because behind those closed doors of that membership are mega-deals and business transactions worth billions of dollars. Once again, its not about race or gender...its all about MONEY.

Yeah, IBM should probably boycott it, or find some other place to host it.

Not going to happen. The only leverage would be for the PGA and the players to boycott it. The Masters at Augusta is so storied in history and tradition that this is even unlikely.

Ohh and IBM is a host of the Masters, not the host of the Masters so they cannot just up and move it to another course (if thats what you meant).

Kinda like the KKK....

Exactly.
I think some people are forgetting (or intentionally omitting) that this same club used to
exclude blacks from being members as well.

Like was said above - grow up and let the women play.
The silliness is staggering.

Not arguing for or against but basically what some of you are saying is that a Private Club can no longer be private?
So by the same reasoning, traditionally women's only clubs, organizations and whatnot must now also be opened up to the inclusion of everybody?
I'm not even sure why most of you care one way or the other since it's highly doubtful that any of us could afford to be members of the Augusta Country Club even if we wanted to.
Now if you're talking about the Masters, sure the women could play alright but they'd have to play from the black tee box which would put them at a very large disadvantage, also, which major LPGA event are you planning on letting the men play at?
If you're gonna go all equality then you gotta go all the way or don't go at all.

So, a private club is no longer allowed to be private?

Be careful what you wish for. You might actually get it.

I'm not sure anyone is saying they can't exclude women if they want, or that they should be made to by the government.

Just that they are outdated idiots.

Gyms? Well lets face it, there is potentially voyeuristic aspect of certain guys wanting to get get sweaty next to women exercising, which some women may find distinctly uncomfortable. So me, I'm fine with it. The difference between someone feeling uncomfortable and just wanting to be exclude. Don't tell me Georgia men feel uncomfortable around women.D ouble standards? Maybe.

Colleges? Yep, single sex colleges seem dumb to me.

I wouldn't outlaw either. Or the Augusta Mysoginist Club.
