Only two of them, mind. Picked up a barely used carbon frame on ebay last month and just finished putting everything together. The wheels aren't actually new either, had them for a couple of years. I've always thought I've not ridden enough bikes to appreciate the subtleties between them, but this is instantly so much better than the alloy frame I was riding previously. It's an amazing material, smooth over rough roads and bumps but noticeably stiffer when out of the saddle and putting power through the cranks. I tend to think most American things you see on British roads look rather vulgar and out of place. Despite the paint job, I hope this tips the balance back in the other direction...

Very nice! I can only imagine what difference I'd see with that, because I just recently went from a steel frame to an alloy frame and that was a big difference (I don't ride much, and it's just around the neighborhood). I tend to think most American things you see on British roads look rather vulgar and out of place. Unfortunately, that probably applies to actual Americans as well...

Holy crap that is an expensive bike!
-Skater No kidding, what, it must go at least 11 lbs. Must be rough. Have fun, no need for a cup holder with a camel back.

Cheers Mwchyn American huh? Where's the cup holder? Cup holders will definitely have to be added before going on any proper rides. Very nice! I can only imagine what difference I'd see with that, because I just recently went from a steel frame to an alloy frame and that was a big difference (I don't ride much, and it's just around the neighborhood). High quality steel is actually a really good material for bike frames, much better ride quality than aluminium. The disadvantages are weight and susceptibility to corrosion. Due to the low volumes of steel frames being made these days, they also tend to be more expensive than mass-produced aluminium ones. Holy crap that is an expensive bike! These things are all relative, it's probably worth about the same as a decent gaming PC. No kidding, what, it must go at least 11 lbs. Must be rough. Have fun, no need for a cup holder with a camel back. Just had it on the scales - 8kg (17.6 lbs). Just out of interest, that's about 1/3 of the weight of my decent gaming PC.

Nice Brun, I used to have a Focus carbon bike with the Fulcrum 5 wheels and they are very stiff and excellent wheels. With a carbon frame you can really feel the speed come out when you put the power down.
Alas, I cannot do road cycling anymore due to compacting the penile nerve which used to make everything go numb. If you have never had numbness followed by severe pins and needles in your bits, then be very grateful lol.

Talk about compacting the penile nerve..i was riding to the shops for dad to get some milk , i would have been 13, sun was right at eye height so i kept putting my head down , looking up every few seconds. Bad move. Bam! Right into the back of a parked car..whole package met the gooseneck at high speed. I dropped like a deadweight and crawled up the gutter, couldnt walk , and it felt like my gear was in my mouth. I half crawled, half stooped over up into whoevers carport at this house and then had a look below, you know when you dont want to look because you realise it isn't going to be pretty..yeah. First time i saw the inside of my man bag. Never managed to get that milk but i did make it back home under my own steam. Dad was pretty impressed and insisted on looking at my injury. I knew when the blood rushed out of his face that it was possibly worse than i thought

Regarding the last two posts: The only time I ever want my undercarriage to go numb is if I split my ball sack open. Fact. Reading that is enough to put you off cycling, anyone want to buy a bike? Didn't realise you'd been forced to quit Mace, that sucks. Especially being in such a nice part of the country for it. Just done a proper first ride. Not much in the way of proper hills around North London, but there's a decent short, steep one not far from home. Gets a bit repetitive, but 2,500' of climbing without being more than two miles from my front door is pretty convenient. My HR max was certainly not 231 bpm, it seems to have problems registering properly until I'm sweating. Either need some ECG gel or to shave a funny looking patch in the middle of my chest. Also, hitting speed bumps at >30 mph on a bike you've just built... Nervy. Fortunately it seemed to hold together ok. Trying to resist overtaking the cars that have to slow down to 20 for them was difficult.

Not sure if I've posted it before, but this is my day-to-day bike. Despite the lack of components it's slightly heavier than the new one, but feels reassuringly bomb-proof in comparison. Even built the wheels myself on this, amazed they've had almost twelve months of (ab)use and hardly needed any truing.

Very rides nices Brun! A couple of years back I had a pretty high end mountain bike. It got stolen sadly. I think I have gotten more than 10 bikes stolen in Copenhagen, really crappy.

Single speed, you sadist lol Yeah, had to pack it in Brun as was doing really long rides and was getting worse and worse. Had done mountain biking before being a roadie but with that you are out of the saddle more than in it but had to pack that in due to not having a car. Actully did use to ride to Hamsterley Forrest on my full-sus XC bike (about 15 miles), ride around for some hours and then ride back. I was out for about 7 hours lol. Riding on the road on a mountain bike is no fun and wore the tread from my expensive tyres lol.

Bike crime is definitely a problem in London, but a lot of people are very careless when it comes to securing their property. See lots of stuff like this around the place... I always use two decent d-locks, avoid places I know to be a problem, and never leave it outside anywhere overnight. It's worked so far [touch wood]. The road bike will never be left locked anywhere, even if you secure the frame and wheels, it's far to easy for some #%&*$# to strip expensive stuff off it with nothing other than a couple of allen keys. Single speed, you sadist lol Not just single-speed, fixed-gear as well. Might as well make going downhill as awkward as going up.

And a coaster brake to boot. Rely on that front on a downhill run and you`ll be going endo in no time. Been there, done that. Mountain bike rear brake cable snapped on a really technical downhill section. All you have left holding you back suddenly throws you over the bars since your squeezing them just as hard. Those rocks really do hurt when the bike flips you into them.
