I'd just add that the 'kink' in the lower boundary at 38km is not compatible with 'Below horizon blind zone' ~ however as this is contiguous with and has a similar effect (no reliable shot) I could see this being used as a convenient/inaccurate shorthand for both the zone of no-radar coverage, and excessive airframe heating.

Just saying... I have no hard data to support either conclusion, but am used to picking through ambiguous statements about technical information that frequently have errors in terminology/description/labelling.

Hi, guys.. I know it is not a math forum, but could someone draw me this:

Quote:
The first thing to realize is that this problem is about circles in
the plane, not about spheres in 3-dimensional space. You are only
interested in comparing a curve and a straight line, and they all lie
in the same plane. A plane through a sphere yields a circle. So we
just have to understand how a circle pulls away from a straight line.

Consider a circle of radius R, tangent to the x-axis at the origin and
the center on the negative y-axis. (I set it up this way in order to
simplify the calculation of the height which now will go straight up
the y-axis from the midpoint of line AB to the origin.) The equation
for such a circle is:

x^2 + (y+R)^2 = R^2

Dunno, I might be doing something dumb, but that isn't plotting as a circle for me - the left and right 'halves' don't appear to meet in the middle, being at 0 and 10 'x' units at the tangent to the axis for an R of 5.

Edit:
Ok I was doing something dumb - plotting the x-y graph using only the first 10 x values, and all 20 calculated y values - excel assumes that x=count(x) if there is no valid value, so it was displacing entries 11-20 to the right.

However:
I still think his formula isn't going to give what he describes - he is saying it gives a circle tangent to the x-axis and with the centre at '0,R', but I plot the curve(s) as a circle tangent to 'x' and with a centre at '0,-R'

The correct form for what he describes would be x^2+(y-R)^2 = R^2

Edit Reason: Goof in Excel.

I've noticed that on the Linebacker Night1-Wave 3 scenario, BIP has very strange behaviour.

Click to reveal..

Is it on purpose or a bug?

Bug.

I'm fixing some other bugs in the meantime.
1, Weasels will have limited numbers of HARM's per plane (4). (Currently they have infinite number of HARM's.)
2, I will add nukeing of own site possibility.
3, There is a bug that allows HARM to continue fly after hit by nuke.

Would you be interested in a GOD MODE?
Like HARM would hit but never kill...

Another question:

What causes this wide signal from the second F-14 (it's like it is between the antena and E-2C "Hawkeye"... wink )?

I saw that and thought it was the ground clutter. It isn't?
