Just got a new computer, installed FSX w/Acell, and it looks like hell. No addons yet, just stock, but I have jaggies galore, don't see where to set video settings in FSX (quality is set in Nvidea control panel, and "use my preferences" also). Attempt to use bejote's tuning tool, and download external fps limiter, and can't open it, even after downloading Winrar. I've done ALL this stuff before on Vista64, new machine has W7 64 and I am baffled (and not a little pissed, at myself, and at this new machine). Sorry for the "stream of consciousness" rant, but REALLY!!! I am so frustrated right now, and I haven't even begun to try and re-install all the add-ons I've bought. I bet that's going to be a real treat, too! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Sorry to hear that you're having probs LJ, you should make sure you enable AA and AF in FSX, but for Nvidia control for FSX and other games I prefer to use Nvidia Inpector profiles, see here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/324786-nvid...f-all-settings/ Check that out and let us know if you can't get it resolved.

Reinstalling FSX scares me more than the idea of reinstalling windows and all my other games (apart from the possibility of running out of activations for the DCS series).
It's a nightmare to set up right. From my recent experience, it seems I should ask if you're using DX10 preview. It seems to perform better on Nvidia than Dx9, it also sort-of looks better, but comes with myriad glitches. I still can't decide which I prefer overall!
The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine!

I run DX9. In DX10 I get about the same FPS as with DX9 so I get all the bugs of DX10 with none of the benefits

DX10 is the best. My fps ranges from 100% tp 300% higher with DX10! And visual quality is vastly superior.

DX9 here too, works great for me and without some of the visual issues I saw in the DX10 preview mode, it good to hear it works seamlessly for some.

DX10 is the best. My fps ranges from 100% tp 300% higher with DX10! And visual quality is vastly superior. Nivida or ATI/AMD user? Also, I think we've all been there at one point or another jugs To comment on your title, I think MS most certainly lost an opportunity with flight. MS obviously wanted a slice of the after-market pie. This is understandable, as many have several hundred, if not thousand, dollars poured into FS9 and/or FSX. But the biggest headache we face is content-management. Most FSX/FS9 'power users' have a rat's nest of add-ons, and keeping it all straight has created a nightmare for the end user (present case being a text book example), and means that modern FSX add-ons, especially highly advance aircraft like A2A, PMDG, and VRS planes, require a major investment in tech-support. Often, an issue with an add-on isn't even the problem, it's the FSX install, but the burden still falls to the devs. Flight's answer was the lazy/evil way: get rid of the content. I think if MS setup flight the way Apple did the app store, they'd have a profitable model. Basically monopolize the storefront, NOT the content itself, and charge a commission rate. A commission is fair as MS would be supporting the base product, and presumably be offering a free (or very cheap) SDK along with it. The idea is MS would set this store up as a user "portal." You'd see it every time you login to FS-11, and it's how you would see new arrivals, contact your online buddies, download updates, and verify DRM. In a situation like what Jugs is in, it would simply be a matter of letting the portal run over-night, redownloading the many gigs of add-ons, or re-installing from a global-backup. MS could deploy a re-authoring system to remove your old machine from the DRM license, and establish them with you're new one. I'd bet a lot of devs would agree sharing some revenue (say, 20%) with MSin exchange for MS taking a lot of the support and DRM weight, would be worth it.

Slooooowley getting set up, re-downloading all the addons that I can find links to, and waiting on others to respond to requests for links, etc. BUT, I just took a flight in PNW (1st reload) with the Carenado 185 (2nd reload). Haven't reloaded Shade, or REX, and haven't run bejotes tweak yet, and all I can say is, "OMG!! I have NEVER seen FSX looking this good before! Still tons to do, but for the first time since I got this machine, I am not wondering if I wasted my money. Big smile on my face!! Try the game manual. Your rig should be more than capable of running the software. If you have " jaggies " AA enabled should take care of that. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your GPU.
