Supposedly VLC does now, but I see mention of some consistent issues. Not worth it to me to pay for anything when we've got normal players around the house, but thought if there's something decent free out there I'd put it on here. As long as it's not going to cause issues, I'm not in the mood to troubleshoot something not that important.

VLC or Media Player Classic/Home Cinema would be front runners and maybe DaPlayer

VLC and DaPlayer both have issues. DaPlayer just locks up and crashes. Didn't see anything about blu-ray capability on the other, but I'll look again later. Not going to put much time into this, I'll just bother with it if there's something that works painlessly.

I think the problem is that due to DRM and copyprotection, the makers of Blueray disks keep updating the DRM which then requires firmware updates in the standalone BD players and software updates on the software players (PowerDVD, TotalMediaTheater), so it is even harder for a freeware player to keep up.

I'm just glad that when I picked up my BD Writer for the PC I picked one that came with a basic Cyberlink BluRay player suite which has a lite version of PowerDVD otherwise I would be spending $50 for a Bluray player software which is as much as the standalone players on sale.

Stupid DRM strategies 101.

Figured it might be something like that, it's come up with one of our Sony players on a new movie before, requiring a firmware update. I tried an older flick, Battle of Britain. I doubt it would have the full DRM treatment. We've got players on the tv's, I just got this one OEM since it was $60 and made more sense than just a dvd drive.
I'll fool around with it when I've got the patience or cough up the money to do it right. Just not a priority after the build. LOL Was hoping to try out the system and new monitor with Mirrormask though.

musta been an OEM, retail BRDrives usually come with a Lite version of a player (PowerDVD Lite) or something.

You do realize I'm not an idiot right?
I know all of that, just looking to see if anyone knows of freeware that will play BR without headaches to get it to work.
