Good evening everyone !

I'm a big fan of plan simulator, i'm mostly playing DCS series and had a looong love with IL2. But i'm not the subject today- today's story is my wife.

I'm bringing my wife into flight simulation. She is already able to fly (nearly) safely a C172 in Flight Simulator (thank you saitek for the autopilot panel charge )

Today i'm searching for a good warbird simulator so she can start to enjoy dogfights and bombing - but in a game that is easy to handle at the beginning. I was in the understanding that Wing of prey was kind of "IL2 light" - with better graphics.

So here is my questions :

Could Wing Of Prey fit that role?

How is Multiplayer?

Is the game finished ? partything

Thank you in advance for your feedbacks!

Greetings from Europe,

Wolf.

I think this would be a great sim for her to use when it comes out. I'm sure they will have a great tutorial mode. The one for Birds of Steel is very well done I'm sure this one won't disappoint either.

Wings of prey has no take off or landing, most of the time, and when it has it's sometimes quite buggy. It's an arcade game with good graphics, and FM is not bad unless in campaign where it's pure arcade.

I'd suggest going straight for IL2 1946 if she's more into serious (aka FS) flight simming. With easy options IL2 is quite easy to handle, and with difficult options it 's more challenging. Has multiplayer, take off and landings, and excellent Flight Models (by no mean perfect but no warbird sim has done any better yet). Graphics are somewhat dated vs wings of prey but it looks much better with mods.

Yes. Just yes. It will be good to see if there's any interest there.

I have Wings of Prey now. Amazon Download....
I'm not sure whether she would like the 'in your face' action. The only problem I've found is that the aerial movement isn't life-like but more of everything is moving way faster than you are.
Of all the sims I've used since the late '80s....this sim is just too much in your face.
Viewing it on a 42" toshiba makes it very hard to stay focused.
Now, I'll say this, it does have a very well thought out arcade.
And as the user gets more acquainted, you can tailor the flight model and cockpit to your taste.
And if you eliminate all of the cheats and gingerbread, you probably have the hardest sim ever created.

I've worked with it enough to recognize that its just a work of art....nothing more...leaves you near the edge but not to it.
From the Great symphonic score, the correct ambient sounds...the swaying trees, the landscape and skies are mouth-watering. Even on my dated system, using medium setting, WoP runs more fluid than what you see on YouTube.
But, in my heart, I truly believe that she would get more joy for her time using Battle of BritainII: Wings of Victory.

I thought it was a keeper, but...Ya just have to go through all of its underpinnings to see what it can do on the screen and in your face. If this is the direction of all Gaijin products, they won't have my support.
I flew a trainer mission using simulator settings...flew from the north coast clear around the the most southern tip and back....saved the file and now I have a gorgeous 40 minute film, complete w/kick classical scoring.
Oh yeh, its a movie maker too.

It's not bad. Not all that great, but not bad.

Il-2 1946 is a better fit for what you want, more types of aircraft, scalable settings and a Full Mission Builder, it's super cheap and has Mods that bring an enormous amount of content to the game, but that's just my opinion.
