I grew up with classical music in the house, played French Horn when I was older, my parents had one of those Danish Modern cabinet stereos made of nice wood with all the components under a lid and my Dad being an Opera Singer would have the windows rattling but I couldn't play my music too loud because it would ruin the speakers rolleyes
I still have an affectionate ear though to all of those classical pieces, I can still remember a little of the words to an aria in Beethoven's Fidelio, where the lead character is locked in the dungeon singing "Gott!, welch dunkel heir" or roughly "God! it's dark in here" it would rattle the whole house when he sang that, but the playing Allman Brothers would ruin the speakers, lol

My late Godmother was a classical pianist and sang in a choir. Bless her memory.

Just listened to Elgar's Cello Concerto today, performed with gusto by Jacqueline du Pré

Though I didn't realize it at the time, this was my introduction to classical music. I had this very record. I hadn't heard this version in over 40 years. I now think it's why I love the sound of french horns and euphoniums.

It's hard to top the introduction to The Procession of the Nobles.

This is probably my all time favorite, although, really, how can you pick just one?

She's a woman with fine taste! smile

For the record though, I absolutely love the Brandenburg Concertos from Bach as well.
