Korean War Sim

I started looking for a flight sim for the Korean War and only found a few hits. I saw where there are add-ons to MS Combat Flight sim and another one or two older sims.
Are there any good flight sims for the Korean War?
I'm easy to please with flight simes. The only two I've ever played are IL-2 (FB, PF, and original) and LOMAC/FC2. I think these are the best. But like I said, I'm easy to please. The physics seem good to me in both these games. I've read post were people say Sim-X is better than Sim-Y because of minor differences in flight performance.
I really think a flight sim for the K.W. would be so fun and challenging since the majority of kills were with guns.
FOMAC/FC2 is a blast but the missiles are so deadly. I sometimes just forget about the missiles and work for gun kills. I'd really like to fly an F-86 Sabre against those first MIGs. A great time it would be.
Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

At the moment there is no good Korea flight sim. You can try Mig Alley, but it's old - I have a copy and it won't even install, probably looks crappy now, but back in the day it was awesome. From things that you can run... not much of a choice. Get Il-2 1946 and there's two options - Ultrapack 3 and Histomod. The first one runs on 4.10.1 version of the game and the other is still 4.09. Histomod is more realistic, but personally I think it's just more keys that need to be pressed in order to fly (batteries, mask on/off, gunsight etc). My choice would be UP3 - either get some friends and go online for a dogfight in '50s jets or try to find some custom campaigns for the mod that cover Korea (there are some at the SAS site, though not sure if they work on UP3 or the SAS expansion for it called Dark Blue World). As as last resort you can try the Strike Fighters series, there is a ton of mods that will enable you to fly KW, but you need to download each separately and create you own package. The game also is more of an arcade/easy sim.

Technically the Korean War never ended, which would make Falcon a KW sim - BMS 4.32 is a free download.

I suppose my wish was that there was an amazing Korean War sim out there I had never heard of.
To me, the first war where jets ruled the sky would be a combat flight sim of epic proportions.
Gun kills ... dogfighting ... new technology. It was all there in the Korean skies.
oh well, I can only wish

I suppose my wish was that there was an amazing Korean War sim out there I had never heard of. Maddox Games was supposed to be doing a Korean War sim after Cliffs of Dover, but it seems to be on hold indefinitely. There's a couple of screens out there of F-51, F-86, MiG, but that's it. If you can live with aged graphics, MiG Alley is a cracking sim. I could never get it to run smoothly on my old PC, and then when I upgraded, some of the stability issues drove me nuts, and then BS and RoF swallowed my time, but I still think it's the best sim I never enjoyed

Isn't there a Korea mod for the Strike Fighters series? Or at least you can use Strike Fighters to have some quick action using existing third party aircraft, even if only over a different terrain. Come to think of it, shouldn't there also be a Falklands mod?
Though I haven't played it for a while, I still regard Mig Alley as my all-time favourite simulation. An excellent campaign, great radio comms, good AI. Best fun I ever had in a combat sim, while at the same time also the most frustrating experience due to its instability and all sorts of ugly bugs. But when it worked, it was magic.

thanks for all the replies
Its amazing to me nobody has modelled a combat flight simulation for the KW. That was the first jet age war. IL-2 is a great sim for WWII (IMHO). There are several good modern flight sims. It just seems like the KW has been forgotten (thus the title: the forgotten war).
I'll continue to enjoy LOMAC/FC and IL2. I may look into getting Mig Alley. I've gone back to buy several old games on GOG.com. Some of those old games are really good. I've been playing Homeworld2 and the latest Mods and its a whole lot of fun. Others I've bought there are great too.

The Korea mod is for SFP1. The new one for SF2 is still in work. There is a complete Falklands mod for SF2.+1 on Mig Alley.

Histomod looks interesting. Glad I'm still with 4.09. Any more details on this mod? Like..are all planes flyable? Does it come with a campaign? Other than 4.09 patch, does it need anything else to install and play? Any known bugs? It'll be very helpful if anyone can fill me these details. Or, better yet, point me to a full review of it. The only thing turned up when I google it was its official forum. And that was in French.. Thanks.

Any more details on this mod? It remaps many of the keys and actions to start and fly A/C so you will have to relearn some functions. More in depth within the limits of the game engine, I suppose. It also has their take on FMs, etc. so if online compatibility is important to you, know this ahead of time. It's made to play their own online wars.
Like..are all planes flyable? All planes in what way? Are there more than stock? Yes. Are there jets? Yes. Everything else is still in there.
Does it come with a campaign? There are a few campaigns available at M4T.
Other than 4.09 patch, does it need anything else to install and play? Not sure anymore since I don't have a Histo install anymore. There was some talk of requiring UP, but I don't know if that's the case now or not.
Any known bugs? Whatever bugs turn up, they used to release fixes and updates about once a month.
The only thing turned up when I google it was its official forum. And that was in French. There's an English link a the top of the forum to tell you how to register. Register and download the newest readme. It will explain what it is and what they do. If you are interested, the D/L links are at the bottom of the document. They can and do converse with you in English there as well as the AAS site.
Hope that helps.

Uh, sorry for being dense.. but where in this page ( http://histomodforum.forumactif.org/) is that readme file with download links located? I tried to translate the whole page with Google but my browser went CTD everytime I do that.. I have registered and login in that website. I clicked that banner on top that says "Download and Try It" but it gets me nowhere. Am I coming to the right website at all? Thanks.

Mig Alley is my all time favorite dog fight sim. Awesome campaign as well. Wish I knew how to get a version to run on my 64 bit windows 7. Anyone know how?

Howdy anyone still happen to have the WINTER terrain mod for Mig Alley? Would love to have it. Searched the internet hi and low, its gone bye bye. Was there ever a way to get rid of the hit sprites and perhaps make the Migs cannon red fireball ammo smaller?
I see some of the mods mention FSM must be installed. What is FSM any info on it?
Anyone know the contact info of a person that know how to mod Mig Alley inside and out? I have a few more questions if a couple mods I want can be done.
I am a die hard EAW and Strike Fighters Fan Sp2a, still using a Windows 98SE P3 1.4 CPU with Geforce 4600 ti I just recently got rid of a bunch of games from that era, decided to install Mig Alley before letting here go been years since I played it, and I was pleasantly surprised of how much fun the Fur Ball single mission is. How I overlooked this I do not know but I was more a campaign guy in the past, and I remember there where a few quirks with the campaign, but now I just want some great flying and dogfighting this sure fits the bill and its been rock solid stable too.
Might be worth getting a Legacy Windows 98SE machine for this unique dog fighting action!
Thanks for any help!
Lonny

HSFX is the best of the mods and has full support all the way to 4.12 it has the F-51, F86, MiG 15/17 and Korea. UP is Dead and you can't run it past 4.09 which means it can't utilize any of the new features that Team Daidalos has been putting into IL-2, I can't speak to Histomod but IIRC it has a long loading time which might indicated the Mods aren't running in the SFS file structure which was a problem in the earlier mods. HSFX is integrated into the game and runs very smoothly with fast loads.

Well, UP is not dead, as far as I can see version 3 is still in development and the forums are still active. I personally enjoy it quite a bit (in its RC 4 beta version) and have made a bit Zuti MDS Korean map that I like to play on with friends, so it's definitely an option, and a good one if you want to use the latest features of the Zuti MDS dogfights. I basically don't use coop missions anymore, instead I create giant battles in the editor using all the Zuti MDS features and play them in coop with friends. On the Korea map, we have stuff like FAC and search and rescue operations, fronts which move according to the ground battles etc... the list of all the things that were added in comparison to stock IL2 is long and many of these are perfect for a Korean mission (that's not to say that HSFX doesn't do that, I haven't followed the developments regarding Zuti MDS and HSFX).
