Lately I've had a desire to do some off road dirt racing in rFactor. Several years ago (4?) SimHQ hosted some off road racing events. It was my understanding that most people who tried them out had a blast. At least I did.

I'm just posting to see if there are any like minded racers here. Off-road racing is a bit different than circuit racing, as the trucks are not precise machines on the dirt and it takes a bit of truck control to maximize them to their full potential. However, there's nothing quite like taking a big jump and coming back down and having to turn into a corner almost immediately. It takes a bit of skill to pull that off, repeatedly, without wrecking or losing a bit of time.

I don't remember exactly what series we raced here, but I was recently testing the ORR 2.1 trucks. I quite like them. I haven't driven a off road truck, but the handling feels nice, while sawing away on the wheel.

The ORR 2.1 mod can be found here http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=ORR%202 There are plenty of dirt tracks available to run these trucks. Crandon is a nice technical track, which isn't too hard, but not too easy either.

Here is a video of the trucks in action.

Here are some screenshots that I took at Crandon.

So, my questions are these. Is anybody interested in racing these and if there's interest, would SimHQ be interested in hosting a race, at some point? driving

We really do need to do this again. I'll add it to an open slot in the schedule.

Saghen, that was one series that I remember taking part in and loving it! It was a series we did all alone so the stuck up road course open wheel guys ( neaner ) would have to join in or not race anything for a few weeks...lol. And as I recall, we all had a lot of fun...and some of those proper racers actually did quite well. I have the old ORR and tracks still in my rFactor but haven't driven it forever. Gotta love the sound of power these beasts put out, and nothing's more fun than flying! wink

Saghen, Weasy....

Check this mod out and give us some feedback...

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=WCORR%20Reloaded%202.5%20Final

It is the updated, update of the Mad Cowie mod we ran way back when.

Also, there are a bunch of new tracks so if you two could recon and suggest 2-3.

I have it on the (just updated) calendar for Sunday, July 15th (plus some Wednesday night running), but will try and move it up.

Finally got around to looking at this. This IS the same version we drove a few years ago and I still have it installed...lol. The current release is from '07. I was going to uninstall it to make room for a new version, but it's the same. Still a huge blast to drive and I'm game! I wonder if I still have my setups for it. wink

We usually run these trucks on the off/holiday weekends during the race seasons at Speedracin and they are a blast.
What we do is have 4 or so different style tracks lined up to run one after the other but we always end with Crazy Cooters figure 8 (w/jumps!) to round out a fun night smile

Count me in thumbsup
