Yeah unfortunately because they don't release sales figures, they can pretty much go on stating that the 15,000 unhappy hardcore simmers are a drop in the bucket compared to the zillions of apparent gamers who supposedly love Flight, buy cockpitless aircraft and just somehow treat Flight like an XBOX game and never post anywhere about it. That's how marketing works at least until they have a chance to roll out the first 6-12 months or more of products they've been working on and whose budget was already planned.
The only signs we can tell of the non-vocal population is online participation and I was on last night and didn't notice any zeroes or p51s flying around but I wasn't checking much since I was busy flying (it was nice to see another guy using ATC radio calls once I started doing it).
For now we just have to let them do their thing and wait and see if it pans out or if they adjust if it doesn't, eventually they will have to quit being able to rely on marketing ("downloads exceeded our expectations") as income for long term budget.
As far as the value of the aircraft in Flight, I think even in FSX terms the value has been good to me. Of my favorite 3 - the Stearman was free, the RV6 was part of the Hawaii package and all that scenery and a decent aircraft for $20 is a good deal, the Maule was the toughest sell for me at $15, but I picked it up since I wanted to try the cargo missions and it turns out to be my favorite Flight airplane, with a great panel and FME and perfect for low slow sightseeing with that high wing and STOL off airport landing capability. The cockpitless airplanes are worthless, even if they were $1 I wouldn't buy them.
I fly the Maule most of the time and really like it, I actually wish I could port it to FSX! The main problem with airplanes in Flight is no GPS or Autopilot but that is a problem with the Flight engine not the planes, hopefully they overcome that someday.
