I hope its not as buggy. Janes Fleet Command drove me nuts with bugs, and inaccuracies.

Pre-ordered today.I figured that it's not a bad gamble at 20 bucks.

It's a strategy game that takes place in real-time, no?

Interesting, and only $20? I'm not much of a Naval warfare guy, but I like to think I know value when I see it. I'll bite smile

Also looks like it could be a great iPad sim! It's clear some thought went into the user interface: It's powerful yet straight forward. Imagine how awesome it would be if you could do something useful on the quarterly finance conference call and shoe Ivan out of the North Atlantic.

Still waiting for it to be released by Steam here...it's frustrating to see it in my Library and not be able to install it yet.....

No sooner than I finished this post and I was able to finally begin the Steam install....Go Figure...

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011

Uss Lake Champlaign CG 57 lol.

Whats the verdict? If it Harpoon like, I'm in. If there is too much micromanaging, I'm out.

Can you set up a CAP station with aircraft, and they engage automatically, or do you have to point and click for every single attack with no unit autonomy?

Is there a mission editor?

Well, I bought it day one like I said I would and it is ok but the 3D view is crap and the realism could be better. Firing 8 cruise missiles all at once is not very realistic. Harpoon is better in that regard.

I like it but yeah there are some things that could improve in the 3D window. Aircraft moving instantly vertically to meet the new altitude you have set, a group of missiles launched all occupying the same space as they fly to target. Either make it match what's going on or don't have it.

How would you attack an modern warship with both Anti-missile missiles and CIWS? Shoot a single weapon at it, and watch for the result, while they shoot one back at you? Like an old-fashion duel?

No, you saturate the target defenses with as many missiles as you can spare, so that the defensive systems hvae to work to pick which target to engage. In the end one or two gets through.

I'm fine with firing a salvo just don't want to see them all overlapping each other in the 3D screen.

LMAO, come on now. It's been years since a modern navy game's been released and we're nitpicking the overlapping missles and planes that rise vertically to match your desired altitudes? Not picking on Mace, just too lazy to do multiple quotes.

This isn't a bad sim and admittedly the 3D is not a more realistic and fluid design, but I would rather see something more meaty along the lines of a scenario editor or database mods, such as Janes FC/NWS mods or Harpoon series.

Overall, very playable but needs some tinkering. I would rather the developer focus on longevity versus aesthetics.

biggrin I don't take any as being picked on, really like the game. Just that I thought only one missile is in the air and it turns out there are 8, just confuses the issue sometimes.

If firing 8 all at once and instantaneously is realistic then why doesn't Harpoon do it that way too?
