Well...when Luthier starts saying "the dog ate my homework" ? Then we will know for sure? We are collectively hosed.
My thoughts and hopes are similar to those expressed by Furbs.

I am looking forward to an upgrade/patch to the press release in the next few months. It's a good thing (for me) that I don't submit updates like these to my boss or to my customers; this is probably the same for many others here. I wouldn't last two weeks, be sure! LOL You would if your boss was asking you to do a bait and switch. LOL Ha! These days selling fine wine I would have no customers to sell to. Back in the day when I sold Canadian whisky to a wide variety of hotels & bars....some of my customers would be telling my boss where to find me! Just kidding......I think. LOL Wisers?

It was another big one. Was with them for 27 years.

Meh... I came here to see what were the news, as I'm still waiting for that prophetic day when I'll be able to take COD from the shelf for more than one day, but I don't see enough news to make me think this is going to happen before the next year: sometime in the future, we'll get a graphic engine update. At that point, stuttering problems and FPS may be improved. Then hopefully the team will start rewriting entirely the AI engine so that sometime in 2013 (but I feel optimistic with this date) or beyond, I might finally be able to enjoy a coop with my friends. Needless to say, I feel it's a bit early to feel excited. I used to be really excited by Cliffs of Dover, but the magic has long gone. It will take more than announcements to bring it back, it will take a game that works and is fully enjoyable...

ya a lot of the excitement has waned as time has passed, but if I recall correctly they have been working on the AI and other elements of the game simultaneously.

Maybe it's because my PC runs Clod well enough but I'm really not that excited about a graphics code rewrite. What I do know (thanks to having a logitech G15 with an LCD screen in it, I can see CPU load while flying) is that Clod is only using 1 or maybe 2 threads of my i7 - averaging about 10% of the CPU. A gfx rewrite would make stuff smoother for sure, but it isn't going to free up CPU bandwidth to enable decent AI, working radio commands etc. I really really hope they've attacked the list of bugs that was posted at banana a while ago, those are the ones that are killing the gameplay. However, don't think I'm being negative about the news, the most positive thing I picked up is that their funding hasn't been cut and they have the option to hire. That's not normal in any business these days.

What I'm hoping with the code optimization is that the online CTD memory leak gets fixed and heavier cloud formations can be used without the current big hit on frame rates. Certainly the dynamics of online (and offline) gameplay will radically change with huge build ups of cumulous over the Channel.

Certainly the dynamics of online (and offline) gameplay will radically change with huge build ups of cumulous over the Channel. More than that, I hope they fix the AI, radio. Having proper, full sized escorts for bomber formations would give us a sim instead of the current game. It will really change the dynamics when you have to, on-the-fly, figure out how to crack that escort to get into the bombers at all.

Agreed, CH.
Somewhere I had read that the upcoming patch was just going to be a performance boost ie. code optimization. If the AI & radio comms is fixed as well that would be a vital plus for SP. Lots to fix.....
