Story!

Better story Link!

"The scale of the trench is hard to grasp — it's 120 times larger than the Grand Canyon and more than a mile deeper than Mount Everest is tall. It was expected to take Cameron 90 minutes to reach the bottom aboard his 12-ton, lime-green sub called "Deepsea Challenger." Once there, Cameron planned to spend six hours collecting samples for biologists and geologists to study. The return trip to the surface was forecast to take 70 minutes."

Pretty cool. I'm sure the "been there, done that" crowd will say something..but a great technical challenge is still a great technical challenge in my book. Can't wait to see the movie..

That is pretty damn scary actually. Being squeezed inside that little thing, bolted in there, for hours and hours. If something goes wrong down there..you might as well be on the moon.

No thanks.. biggrin

This is really, really cool, though I thought there were other manned submersibles aside from Trieste that would've been able to venture down that deep. Still, great read!

Thanks Beach!

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011

According to their Twitter page:

"@JimCameron is the first person in history to solo dive to the deepest place on Earth, a record 35,756ft/10,898m #deepseachallenge"

So it appears he made it to the bottom at least!

Cool stuff. I hope he does some expeditions down in Lake Tahoe. I've heard that Jacques Cousteau found something down there that "the world is not ready for". As well as there are lake monster stories from there which I love cryptozoology anyways.
