Something is definitely F'd---I can't game for more than about 15 minutes before some kind of lockup, crash, or dx error. Most of these require a hard reboot. Not fun at all.

do you disable System Scanners/AV Suites when doing your drivers?
also, theres a unofficial statement that Catalyst RC10 (i think) causes Issues by changing windows files outside of the AMD Drivers..
Which in order to fix requires O/S Reinstall.
DP Going out, DX errors for Not Enough Ram,
Sounds like the Card itself is not getting enough power and cutting off.?
Try Stress Testing the system with only one card in at a time (FurMark/Heaven).
then try both.
could also be a bad slot. Would stress testing in Furmark/Heaven allow me to determine if the card is getting enough power? re: the Catalyst RC10, not sure what you mean by that.

stress testing will push the card more than what games would.
sounds like a bad card though.

well, disabling crossfire results eliminates the lockups and crashes, at least for a few hours in BF3 so far. But obviously I want to use both cards, so I wonder what aspect of crossfire is causing the problems?

1 of the cards is bad?
stress test them one at a time.
Take one out, stress test for a while... if nothing happens.. shut down, put the other one in and repeat, if nothing happens, move the Card to the 2nd slot, test, repeat with second card.

Revviving this thread.
Removed one card and now BF3 crashes after maybe 10-15 min by displaying a solid grey screen. System is locked up and I must hard reboot.
Ran 4 different benchmarks (3DMark, Furmark, Uningine) and it performed fine in all of them.
Is it possible that some Catalyst settings aren't working with BF3?
PS I followed the earlier advice and did a full uninstall of AMD drivers and then a reinstall of Cat 12.3

How long did you run Furmark? If it ran at least the 10-15 minutes it takes BF to crash, a hardware issue with the card seems extremely unlikely. What resolution and what AA mode are you running BF in?
edit: just found "and the 30" via a mini display port (via a converter)"
If that is still relevant, just remove the 2 extra display for testing and connect the main display via DVI or HDMI.
