I've connected to external players before, but now I'm trying to connect to another PC on my home network and having not luck.

I've tried entering 0.0.0.0 as the host on one and entering the IP address of the host on the other. I've tried with and without port forwarding (don't know why I'd need it).

If anybody has a step-by-step guide I'd love to see it!

Both computers are running windows 7.

Just connect to the local IP?
Port forwarding is only needed when passing through a router, I assume you don't have that complex a network enviroment inhouse.

Did you connect to the actually computer specific IP of the host, or did you use the external IP adress? Basicly if you are connected to the internet, each computer has one IP, but your house/apartment/cottage/tent/whatever you are living in has another IP, which is the one you use to connect via the internet, but for LAN you need to use the computer specific IP. And no, no ports are required.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying. I used ipconfig to get the host computer's IP address.
To set up the flight I am trying this:

A] On the host:

  • Use ipconfig to determine the IP address.
  • From the Falcon UI, click "COMMS"
  • leave the ip field as 0.0.0.0
  • enter 2000 for BW
  • click connect

B] on the client:

  • Click Comms
  • enter the IP address from the host computer determined above
  • enter 2000 for BW
  • click connect

After going through A, I see that Goblin is in the lobby.
After B, I get a "failed to connect" message.

Well on a LAN the host BW should be atleast 7500, and on the client try a bandwidth of 250 or 300. Other then that I don't see anything wrong.

Thanks for your help guys. I found out that the host computer, which is running ESET, was running a software firewall. Disabled that and everything was good to go.

Hi,
I have some questions.
1: how much Data transfer cost in every 1 minute for flying BMS on Internet? I means how much MB for Upload & Downkoad of transferring data.
2: how much the internet connection speed must be to have good flight with out any slow motion , 128Kb or 256Kb or 512Kb?

I dont have 3D glasses . I dont have flight yoke(Stick) , I dont have throttle , I don't have Pedals , I use keyboard & mouse . is it good for me to play online on internet ? I think it will be very hard to make a team work by my status.

When I fly in home 95% of time I use to be wing 4. but since I use keyboard & I have On_Board Graphic card with make the sim a little FPS kill , It's realy hard to stay in good position to wing 3. Should I play Online by this system & condition?

Thanks to you all for Advice ( Specially to Dear Goblin thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup ) , Heydar.
