I think that, bar some actual new code to ship, this is probably the best thing they could say at the moment. I hope things plop out sooner rather than later, as this is one of the less joyous first anniversaries I've attended.

I'll get my resume/cv sent off forth-with, sounds great fun - hope the pay is bad too.. smile

Patch in two weeks, for sure - any takers?

Why could we not have had this frank update several months earlier?
It must have taken all of 10 mins at the most to sit down and compose what needed to be said..

Maybe he just believed things were better than they were, i.e. always just a couple of days away from shipping a major update only to have the rug pulled out every time?

Dunno. Retrospectives on a statement like he made won't change much going forward though.

The graphics/performance patch has been a huge setback, but once thats cleared the path forward should be much smoother.

Hiring 1 extra guy to bring the total now to 5 isn't exactly stating its on solid ground! wink

Probably another eight to ten people wink but that said even one person shows that the people holding the purse strings, which isn't us by the way, have shown enough confidence to continue funding the sim.

Yes I feel more optimistic and hopeful too after reading this. I can relate somewhat to the painfull awareness and the ever present

feeling in the back of his mind. I did a little programming and coding back in my younger years and I think after concentrating

hard on a project sometimes you just have to get up, walk away and think about something else for a while. It was kind of remarkable

how things seemed to click much better with more progress that way. Anyway, I hope they are successful.

You would have to understand the process like FearlessFrog suggests, to understand how easily there could be a number of unforseen setbacks. Rewrite, test, find probems, rewrite, test, find new problems, rewrite, test until it fixed. There is no possible way to know how long its going take. They just keep working until its fixed or the until the bean counters pull the plug. All the developer can say is that they are working on it and they have said that a number of times.

It is good news, though i will be happier when Luthier speaks of other fixes to come, the graphics patch is needed and welcome but for CLOD to thrive there are more important issues to solve.
