While waiting for all the features to be fixed in COD, I think I will definitely pick this game up for some fun tank action, might even try the aircraft to take out those tanks. The aircraft have cockpit view, but so far its definitely not a aircraft simulator but still looks interesting. The overall graphics look great except for the terrain pop up.

Heres Youtube video, its in German but well worth taking alook.

Have you played any of the ArmA games bedore ?

Based on the experience I had with ArmA2's (on which this game is based) release, I would expect the initial release to fall short of expectations and require a couple of patches before it runs like the advertised product. You'll be dealing with a lot of familiar issues you may have had with CloD biggrin

If you can look past that however, you'll be having metric tons of fun, especially online.

Cheers

Nico

What VonBarb said.

biggrin

The ArmA series is notorious for Bugs, AI and performance problems on release, and from what I've seen of Iron Front so far this won't be too much different. I'll most probably still buy it on release though.

A combined arms sim set in WW2? Sign me up.

Goes without saying. Besides if it offers the same third party mods-friendly engine, it's going to be epic.

I'm curious how the devs will handle patching and community relations though. Bohemia's games may have some issues but they've proven to be very attentive to the community's feedback and tirelessly provide support with frequent large patches addressing those issues and bringing new improvements every time. Will Iron Front enjoy the same constant upgrades, since they won't be directly involved this time ?

Cheers

No game developing company in the world has better support than Bohemia. Generally they release beta patches several times a week.
ArmA series are amongst the most complex games in the history of gaming and i am impressed on how Bohemia interact with their fan base doing everything they can to keep the game in a best possible condition. Bugs are inevitable in complex games like this.

I believe i read somewhere that Iron Front will use the same updated code and will continue to do so in the future smile
even IF Iron Front starts off "slow", it still has the potential to be a big hit for us WWII geeks. Looking at what modders do with ArmA only good things can come for Iron Front biggrin

Here's some pics of Iron Front which has gone gold and will be release on DVD and Steam on May 25th.
I liked the pic of the ground and aircrew standing around the P39.

The more I look at the map the more I like the lay out. I wonder how big it is?

There are 4 maps in all according to their site. They don't list size but found an older list that did, when it was just 3 maps:

Island 1(not named yet) / 16x16 km / Poland
Island 2(not named yet) / 8x8 km / Poland
Island 3(not named yet) / 5x5 km / Western Ukraine

Info from the official forum:

•Poland - Baranow
•Ukraine - Ivachev
•Ukraine - Panovo
•Poland - Staszow

For reference, Takistan in OA is 12.8 x 12.8 km IIRC.
