Can't find any pilot (DGen error)

Was playing a russian campaign for german side when, ending a sub-campaign and starting next one, just as I clicked "Apply" computer started an endless reading of hard-disk, that, after minutes, gave windows error message on game screen, saying an error has occurred with DGen 4.0.8.6.exe.
Well, I exit and open DGen log file, which reports in its end a very long list of "Can't find pilot #XXX"; where XXX ranges up to hundreds. More precisely, it wrote for first 16 pilots "Found Junior Pilot", then started the "Can't find pilot". Must be said that earlier in same campaign some oddities had happened with ranks, since me, notwithstanding had lowest rank, often was set to lead flights with wingmen of much higher rank.
It's a pity, since I had already played many missions.
Any help?
Thanks, GB

Do you still have the campaign saved at the last successful mission? Try it again. (Maybe you have). I've had errors like this before, but have resumed the campaign by flying the mission again with it advancing as prescribed thereafter.
On the other hand, you go on to describe the other behavior like leading flights etc. that sounds a bit odd. More like a corrupt data somewhere. But just the same, maybe try running it again so you can at least have a go continuing your campaign.

I did and it worked, thanks!
More precisely, I edited its campaign.ini file , adding a blank line before end.mis and there I copied last mission (i.e.: 20812.mis) so to have TWO of them at list end. This time briefing screen appeared no more blank and I could replay last mission, at end of which, clicking "Apply" I got first mission of new sub-campaign.
Cheers, GB

Good. I think there are minute times where Dgen doesn't always generate the necessary data to complete the cycle.

Thanks, GB I've had the same error - but it seems I got rid of it by installing 4.0.8.6 DGEN, because the error occurred only with DGEN 4.0.8.7 version. The other thing is that newer versions of DGEN have Historicalranks parameter enabled by default. This causes your promotion rate to be slower but you will lead the flight even on lower rank in some missions, so I suppose it was not the cause of this crash when you led higher ranks with your lowest rank. To disable it set Historicalranks=0 in DGEN part of conf.ini

Dark Arrow..
I think Grey Beard is already running 4.0.8.6 if I'm understanding you correctly.

I think Grey Beard is already running 4.0.8.6 if I'm understanding you correctly. I saw that, but anyway I thought that maybe he misread the number, because really by me 4.0.8.7 produces the error - 4.0.8.6 does not. But it probably can be campaign specific - I don't really know.

Cheers, GB That's truly odd, because I thought the campaign.ini file was encrypted???

To disable it set Historicalranks=0 in DGEN part of conf.ini Thanks, I applied your suggestion. And, yes, DGen version is really 4.0.8.6. S! GB

That's truly odd, because I thought the campaign.ini file was encrypted??? The encrypted one is Campaign s.ini in User folder! GB
