Like Transformers, TMNT were pure marketing material, I cannot see the logic in getting upset over rewriting an 'origins' story - this is hardly Batman. If old movies were religion and you're a religious man, imagine how pissed you would be if he picture Jesus as a rock star from New York. At least that's how I feel. Nah, it's got nothing to do with logic. More because he..errr..screwing up the good old legacy?

Need to stop making movies about toy ad campaigns......
Yes we all thought GI Joe and Transformers cartoons were cool as kids but really, they only existed to sell toys, not a compelling story.
Besides that these movies fundamentally suck. Sure they have big budgets, big special effects and big action but they have cliched storylines and below average acting. I'd kill for a real original story but that's me.

One aspect you are leaving out of your equation is the comics. I can't speak about GI Joe, but TMNT and the Transformers(especially the UK stuff) had compelling stories in their comic iterations. The TMNT comic was pretty dark actually.

This is old, but still appropriate... Michael Bay Signs $50M Deal To #%&*$# Up 'ThunderCats' LOS ANGELES—In the largest deal ever made to #%&*$# out a movie, Warner Bros. and director Michael Bay announced a landmark $50 million agreement this week to monumentally #%&*$# up ThunderCats.
"I couldn't be more excited to completely #%&*$# this up," said Bay, who plans to begin production on destroying the live-action adaptation next month. "ThunderCats has a great story, endearing characters, action, adventure, space-travel, and fantasy. It will be an honor to run it into the ground."

If you guys want compelling stories and characters watch "The Godfather" or "Last of the Mohicans" instead of searching for movies based on toys and comics that have those qualities.

I know you don't watch it, but The Walking Dead IS based a comic with compelling stories and characters. Do not dismiss the source material just because it is a different medium. The TMNT comic was WAY different that the silly TV cartoon series or the movies.

Are we really discussing quality films and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the same thread? Were you expecting David Lynch's TeenAngst Mutant Ninja Turtles?
Raphael: Mommy! Donatello: Where's the Heineken for when the pizza gets here? Raphael: Heineken?! F**K that sh**! Pabst Blue Ribbon. Leonardo: Pizza's here. Michelangelo: Blue cheese? Who asked for Blue Cheese? Raphael: Baby wants to eat Blue Cheese! The End.
LMAO!!! Epic. Thats actually not bad , Letterboy or Letterbay..you decide.

The Star Wars franchise made (and is still making) its creator ridiculously rich from selling toys. Bay needs to be stopped. He has to stop destroying 80s/90s kids' childhood heroes. If he ever touches McGyver, there will be blood. Cheers Nico

I thought he did a great job with Transformers, other than #2. Actually managed to turn giant car robots into some great scifi action flicks.
As for TMNT, always thought that was too inspired by a stoner's vision going horribly to fruition. Not sure why he'd bother with it really.
