Saw it at gamersgate. Anyone played this game? I'm in the mood to play some new WWII arcade/sim-lite. Warbirds 2012 looks good graphically. But they boast to much about it to the point that makes me suspicious. Training missions that will make you able to fly the real plane?? Really? Not even il-2 boasts that way. I'm pretty sure most of us wouldn't even call it sim-lite looking at the screenshots. Well, like I said earlier, I just want to know if it's good enough? Are there any game killing bugs/features. Thank you.

Warbirds used to be an MMO. I'm assuming it's a same game wrapped up in a box. IMHO stay away. If you're looking for MMO, try Aces High (it's free for 2 weeks)

MMO? No, I'm looking one for offline only. So, Warbirds 2012 is not ok? Too bad, they talked about hundreds of missions and many planes, even B-17.

If - IF - it's anything like the previous incarnation, there will be quite a lot of offline playability, albeit limited by 'chat' as for MP but no wingman commands/radio, annoying but useful stall horn, that sort of thing.
I got the WarBirds-based 'History Channel Battle of Britain' game cheaply a few years back and after installation, you could 'patch' it, free, with the ability to fly all the other WB planes, in other maps - bombers, fighters, plus some WW1 and Korean jets, with a set of mission types you can generate for each; all on top of the basic BoB planeset and linear campaign out-of-the-box. Interface was a bit clunky. More recently, I tried 'Flyboys - the Game' and it worked the same way, as regards acess to the extra content, with slightly better graphics.
The BoB one had some interesting content like a mission manning an Oerlikon gun on a destroyer under bomber attack in the English Channel.
I found them not really a strong SP sim contender (no surprises there) but fun for a bit of air-to-air, something in between a serious SP sim and arcade. The terrain graphics especially were limited, but acceptable. Not sure why but I remember finding them a lot better than the SP element that comes with Aces High. MP I've no interest and can't comment.

I’m not a fan of air combats but when I tried playing WarBirds 2012, I just got addicted to the game. The gameplay experience is impressive. With over 120 aircrafts and countless missions to choose from, WarBirds 2012 is definitely an exciting game. With the helpful tutorial trainings, I was able to be an expert in no time. WarBirds 2012 is definitely for all ages as it offers different levels of expertise. The game has great special effects and explosions which will make you jump off your seat. The explosions, variety of aircrafts and geographical terrains feast my eyes.

Hmm sounds rather like a breathless advert there... Gameplay experience impressive? On the strength of 120 aircraft and countless missions...
~ maybe... but only if the actual gameplay experience - as in how the aircraft operate, perform and 'feel' is dramatically improved over the last time it was 'Impressive' when I was hugely underwhelmed - everything felt 'the same' but 'a bit different' and the whole ran on rails. Graphically it wasn't as impressive as was claimed then either... But wait ~ you say it has explosions... still my beating heart.
Also a bit put off by that pile of cack passed off as an 'Impressive Tank Combat simulator'...

Something fundamentally dishonest about a person with *one* post, speaking in PRspeak about a new sim, trying rather hamfistedly to create viral interest. If someone from iEnt wants to stand up and promote their product here like a real human being, they could learn a few lessons from the real developers and publishers who post and have posted here in the past, such as Jason 777 and Oleg. This is a Sim site. we're not your typical internet mouthbreathers, and we expect respect. This sort of thing is a sure way to turn us off this product immediately.

I completely missed the post count... but not the inherent dishonesty of the PR speak... If only because it promises so little while appearing to promise more than seems plausible...
It isn't in the same league of scumminess as M4 Tank Brigade which absolutely sucks if the promotional video is anything to go by, or the fraudulent claims of the Virtual Pilot 3D scammers... but it carries a similar 'taint' to it, because there is no comment by a real person who is plausible but rather a PR campaign claiming extra-ordinary things for what is most probably highly-ordinary.

Wow, I can almost see him gazing at the cue cards, as he wrote that the..."geographical terrain feasts my eyes." Lol!!!!!!!

captainrich= Wild bill IMO. I used to play Warbirds way back when it was 2.77 and warbirds 3. It wasn't that bad if you liked a light arcade type game MMO. After a few years and the pay for skins and some other changes my whole squad left for Aces High I didn't care for that either So I found IL2. My old squad is still in AH and I guess with the updates its quite good now. I don't know about Warbirds.

Lieste and PV1. Nicely done. You can't blame the guy for trying, only for doing it so insultingly. For what it's worth I really enjoyed the earlier Warbirds as it was the only prop alternative to Flanker that I knew of at the time. I tried some MP as well but got my arse handed to me more than any "sim" before or since. I wish them well but if that really was "Wild Bill", he should know better.

I haven't played WB for a few years but every now and then, I go over to the Total Simulations web-site and check out the screen shots.
The current ones look exactly like WBIII which was what I was playing until I stopped. Unless all of the development work has been done on adding new planes, it doesn't look like the game has moved forward since I left. Frankly, I don't think it ever recovered from the transition from WB2.77 to WBIII, which is a shame because WB2.77 was a great on-line game.

Wow, in that case I take it back - a retro gaming treat of "geographical terrain feasts my eyes." And "explosions".
Oh, wait... momentary aberration. Carry on.

I just got an email ad from Amazon (US) pushing downloadable "Warbirds 2012" and "Warbirds Dogfights 2012" by Encore, Inc. It lists compatibility with Windows XP, Vista, and 7, so it would appear to be updated versions. The pictures don't look bad, does anyone know the real skinny on these?

I just looked at the US amazon site, the pictures there are strangely inconsistent. Some look acceptable, mostly ones with just aircraft against blue sky, some are pretty embarrassing for a 2012 product, one plane has a very low poly count on the near wing, and the clouds and ocean behind the Betty(?) are just painful. Curious, it is a download only, and only to the US. So apparently I'm not a candidate customer. I don't think I feel deprived, particularly.
