Disappointed somewhat in this game. It feels a bit lackluster and doesn't seem to offer much in the way of new ideas. Feels a bit like a chore to play, too. Wish I could sell my copy.

That's a damn shame to hear. Oh well, maybe I'll get it when it's 50% off or something.

Have you seen the user reviews for ME 3 on Amazon and other sites? It's not pretty.

That's because apparently they didn't like the ending so they are crying about it.

So much so that Bioware is making changes to it!

Yeah I heard that, crazy. It played out fine to me. When I asked on the forums why they hated they replied that after spending so many years playing the trilogy they feel cheated and robbed! Lives need to be gotten methinks...

Next people will start demanding different endings to films!

Well the other major complaint that I've read is that it seems a lot of the decisions you make in the game have little to no bearing on the outcome. Was that your impression?

The ending had me confused. You have to choose between 2 paths, but it isn't made clear which is which. So I had to reload the ending (and sit through 10 minutes of unskippable cutscenes) to take the path I really wanted (on the right, in my case). Other than that, it has been a great ride, and I feel ME3 brought back some of the good stuff from ME1 that was missing in ME2.

I'll know more when I have done a second playthrough with another character. I found that some decisions (or combinations thereof) can have a major impact resulting in life or death for certain key characters. Meanwhile, many other decisions which I thought were important seemingly had little bearing on how it played out.

Well apparently that war asset count you get by doing side missions and MP affects the ending a lot, but it's not really a "choice"...with a low number things are limited in how they can turn out, and even with a high number they get narrowed down.

I don't know what ending people WANTED, but I think the outcry is obvious that a large number of people expected something different from what they were able to get to.

As for films having different endings, that happens all the time. Test audiences can feel a film's ending is lousy and the studio will give money to reshoot it to get a better ending response. One I can think of is ST Generations. If you watch the deleted "original" death of Kirk scene, it was BAD. I mean, the greatest character of the franchise gets shot in the back, falls to his knees, and then falls over dead without a word?? It was so horribly anticlimactic that as much as I thought the film's ending was poor as released, that one was 10x worse.
Side note: in one interview Shatner said after years of hearing "captain on the bridge" he wanted to say at the end of that film "bridge on the captain"...they didn't go for it, of course! biggrin

If it weren't for the excellent scenes with Picard and Kirk, I'd relegate Generations down on the bottom of the list along with ST V and Insurrection.

On redone movie endings...classics on this were "When Harry met Sally" and "fatal attraction" getting redone for "happy endings". Frankly the original down endings sounded far better. If the only issue on ME3 is that the endings are grim, I may be fine with that. Not every story needs an upbeat jolly result. Seven Samurai for an example.

Mind you, I have not got to the ending (barring getting caught by a spoiler posted by an idiot at RPS) so I have yet to find out the reasons for the furor. I await with bated breath.
