As someone who watched a good number of episodes of the source material as repeats in the 80s I am disappointed. I was hoping for something creepy with gravitas, but instead we are getting Austin Powers: the Vampire Edition.

Oooooo the Twilighters won't like a film making fun of vampires!

Why do they keep trying to resurrect this? They tried years ago with Ben Cross too, IIRC.
In the 70's it was played late at night. Even then it was bad tv. LOL

If they mocked the poor technical aspects and the cheapness of the original production, this could be funny. Now, I just see this as another boring Tim Burton movie. While I enjoyed some of Burton's work, he's a painter with only one brush stroke. Everything looks the same. He lost me at "Planet of the Apes." Depp is losing any credibility as an actor with me. Where's the guy I loved in "Fear and Loathing" "Chocolate" "Finding Neverland" Gilbert Grape?" Heck, I even liked his first version of Jack Sparrow, but enough is enough. I don't think I'll watch another of his movies.


I think there was a short lived ressurrection of D.S. on network TV back in the late 80s. I never caught it, but my sister enjoyed it.

Ah, so Depp and Burton have collaborated on a dark gothic style movie. Nope...they've never done that before.

No that's what this movie should have been, but from the trailers it appears they are going with a lame time traveler comedy approach. Rip Van Winkle > Austin Powers > Dark Shadows. I don't know why they even needed to call it Dark Shadows outside of the obvious marketing boost from using a known name. What they have shown has no resemblance to the source material at all outside of the names.
