My girlfriend, as surely a barrage of Valley Girlisms at 400 decibles will overmatch anything short of Palpatine wearing the One Ring.

Failing that there's always my 12.5" 870.

Robinson arms XCR or a Ruger 10/22. Where I am right now probably the 10/22 for two reasons:

(1) I'm in a condo, and I wouldn't want to have a round hit someone in another unit
(2) In canada centerfire rifles are restricted to 5 round magazines (I have 10 rnd pistol mags for the XCR in .223). There is no limit for rimfire mags, and I have 25 round mags which feed my 10/22 reliably.
