Friday Update Information - March 17, 2012
There will be no update this week.

Please refrain from making a whine, and complaint festival out of this news.

Updates are not guaranteed. The devs want to produce the updates, but some weeks there isn't enough to tell.

Here is link to recent post by BlackSix with some additional information - http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpos...&postcount=853

From Black6

"I have understood in what a problem. I needed to explain it more in detail. Also, I'm sorry for my bad English.

Friday's update was in two parts earlier. This is the information about progress of work on a patch and information about the sequel.
I am against the publication of screenshots and information about the sequel in the near future. Too many negative reviews. Much more than positive. This is understandable. You expect us to fix CloD in the first place.

By 16 March, we did not prepare anything about the sequel. Also, I have not received information about patch. Friday's update was not.
I think that in the current situation we need to make a patch and give it to you and then continue to talk about the sequel. Ilya will solve this, not me.
Now I do not know about the update on March 23. The situation could happen again. All I can tell you now - the work continues"

Black6 is in the same office as Luthier right? with some luck Luthier will take 10 mins and explain where they are with the patch and other fixes.

This lack of proper communication....just "adds insult to injury".

I'm sure, one of the noted apologists will come around and explain?
Why Luthier is running around with his fingers in his ears?
Why we are supposed to patiently wait with our thumb in our mouth? or elsewhere?

"Fool me once? Shame on me"..."Fool me twice? Shame on you"

Reading between the lines, I'm not so sure that BlackSix is in the same office. Knowing they are still working on the patch is good news. That said the longer this critical patch takes, strongly suggests that the testing isn't going as well as they hoped. Its looking like this next month or so is the make or break point of the sim.

If the performance patch isn't successfully there is no point in finishing the features at this time. The sim runs fine on my system and there is plenty of headroom to introduce more features, but this isn't the case for most users. If they do have to cancel the sim for performance issues, it could be resurrected in a couple of years when the average computers can handle the complexity of the sim. When the developer stopped working on BOB SOW to continue work on the IL-2 addons a few years ago I'm fairly certain it was for the same reason."Performance Issues" I remember reading a Luthier post not that long ago where he said they were only getting 1 fps.

I have the patience, but I'm way too old to have the time. wink

Its not performance that is holding things back though, its needed yes, but its 5 things and its been 5 things since release...

CTD's
FM's
No simple il2 style COOPS
AI
Single player aspects (pilot,sqd etc)

if they had sorted them 5 things from the start most people would have much more patience waiting.

CTD's are a performance issue, as are the stutters, memory leak, and low frame rates that most people experience during play. The performace issues have to be fixed before most people could start enjoying the new AI, Commands, FM etc

Yep furbs, that may be that way, but the priorities of the devs are a bit different:

1. A working basic game with adequate frame rates

2. ........

3. ........

4. Bugfixes, AI and correcting wrong data

5. .......

6. .......

7. The sequel

8. additional material for CoD, like menus for coop and fmb

or so i imagine.

I noticed today on ATAG that most people had a ping rate of 100 to 400, what effect if any is there with that?...and why is everyone blue in net stats, no red aircraft shown???

Ping rate is a different issue. You can have the best performing sim in the world, but if your Ping is to high,(Poor Internet Connection) then you will have a multitude of problems playing.

So two opponents, one has 35 ping, the other 437 ping, does the 35 ping have a combat advantage?...sorry Chivas, I'm in a crash course learning multi play, off-line AI and all biggrin
