If you exit an aircraft with parachutes available, the chute opens automatically when you exit. If the mission is edited for a free fall like HALO, you will have a menu option "Open Chute".

I tend to do HANO's, High Altitude NO Openings, not on purpose of course

Those are the ones I'm most good at

I'm doin' the Basic Training parachute free fall and I swear I can't open the chute ... I see the message pop up tellin' me to open chute but I can't seem to do it and plow into the ground

HANO- been there, done that. LOL



This sounds like a controller input problem. I use the default settings, scroll mouse wheel to open menu and select action. Middle Mouse button or Enter to perform action. But if it works else where, it should work for the parachute.
