Isn't funny how this is released on the same day as Bohemia released its Hind DLC for Take on Helicopters (look here). It seems we had a Day of the Hind copter

Are these the native Windows versions of the sims, or the DOS versions packaged with DOSbox? IIRC, DI bundled both DOS and Windows 95 versions in the same box.

I'm sure I have my CDs for these around somewhere, but GoG may have itself another sale if I can't find them.

Pretty sure they are packaged with DOSBOX, at least APACHE was, so I assume HIND as well.

Thanks, Recluse. I may just have to find the CDs and download the 3DFX patches, unless 3DFX works for DOS as well.

No, the 3DFX only worked on the Windows version. I have the Hind CD with Windows/DOS/3DFX versions and could never get it (3dFX) to work with any combination of Glide Wrappers on XP or on a V5 5500 card under Win98. Some others have been successful with 3DFx HIND so there may be a chance, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope. I also tried patching the Apache with the 3DFX addon patches with no success.

Hind ran pretty well under Win XP in the native graphics mode, but I seem to recall that the DOS version in DOSBOX was actually more stable.

Tried it at work - man, i forgot how fun this game is. I still keep fond memories of playing the Afghanistan campaign years ago. Great games are just GREAT! smile

I used to be able to get the 3Dfx version to run, and the graphics improvement is significant. However I can't get it to load any longer, either due to a card change from 260 to a 460, or a similar change to a slightly newer driver. Even more disappointing, I can't get the 3Dfx version to run on a retro Voodoo5/Win98/P600 machine. Too bad - it's still a decent sim with spending time with.

Thanks, guys. I may just stick with EECH for my graphics fix, and go with software mode for retro fix.
