I play with Expert difficulty (there are other settings?!), but I probably haven't spent enough time with the Medium. I'm looking forward to testing it out, but I won't be able to get to it until later this weekend, unfortunately.

Are you sure that you're playing on "Expert" dificulty or that you played enough time with the Medium helicopter (more than a simple "5 minute trip").

I always had this problem with this medium helicopter but in previous version if I was very carefull with the helicopter (treat the helicopter like it was actually "made of glass") I could play and end missions with the medium helicopter without too many extensive strutural damage. But now with version 1.04 things are MUCH WORSE, even if you treat the medium helicopter "gently" it will inevitably get damage by itself specially loosing tail rotor authority which is a thing that didn't happen (tail rotor "stuff") in previous version 1.02 for example.

Just try the following:
-> With patch 1.04 installed play a "lift cargo" single player scenario/challenge with the medium helicopter and tell me if you can end that challenge without loosing the tail rotor and at least end it without extensive "strutural" damage!!

Honestly this is so easily reproducible since with the "light" and "heavy" helicopters you don't get that kind of exagerated and unrealitic damage like you have with the medium helicopter!

I've done several missions with the heavy helicopter. I have never had a problem with it, even on "Shakedown" where you need to do a few edge-of-the-envelope type manuevers. I've only ever played expert. Try a large amount of curve on your rudder. I have found that both the heavy and the medium are very easy to corkscrew if I am not careful with the yaw rate.

[Edit: I did try the mission where you sling 3 boxes from one location to another and had no problems.]

I'm not sure if this is what is happening. There is a "bug" in the 1.04 patch that only affects some users, but is easy to fix. Go into Options -> Controls -> Controller and reset all of the axis sensitivity to default. For some of us the patch kicks the sensitivity to max. Using CH gear, so don't know if it is a CH thing. Doing this fixed it though.

After spending a couple hours with 1.04 this afternoon I'm very pleased. For me flying is much more enjoyable after the patch. All the helo's feel much more stable and that horrible right roll has been removed.

I didn't see this listed in the change log, but manual trimming also seems to work much better now. On the last patch trimming could get kinda hairy and I always felt like the system would trim more than I told it to. Now, everything just works. The only thing I wish BI would incorporate is support for trimming with a FFB stick. It feels much more natural to force trim and have your stick stay right there.

It's NOT the HEAVY helicopter that has this bug! It is the MEDIUM helicopter ONLY that has the problem!

The LIGHT and HEAVY helicopter have NO problems regarding the bug that I reports here in this thread.

Ricunes,

I don't have the link but your problem was acknowledged directly on the ToH forum. It occurs when th helicopter is pitched above 150 kph. They are working on a fix.
