Getting some good reviews, for whatever that means. IGN giving it an 85. Expansive, large plane list, settings adjustable to meet all gamer's needs being pluses mentioned

Looks interesting, I called the local Gamespot and he said they sold out, called another one and they had 3 copies and I reserved one and will pick up tonight, NewEgg appears to have it in stock:

I picked up the XB360 version of it and from the training missions it is pretty nice and very sim like, did you guys do XB360 or PS3?

I was sort of torn since the PS3 version seems to support HOTAS USB joysticks whereas the XB360 only official MS supported peripherals, but I figured if I want to play using a flightstick or HOTAS I will just play IL2 or WOP on the PC anyhow.

Hoping I picked what most of you did in case we want to do MP.

did the tutorial missions this AM... an excellent game... if you liked Gaijin's earlier 2 console "sim lite" games, you'll love this... and they seemed to listen from past mistakes... can start in realistic mode now, no need to do all the arcade modes first... stats, replays, excellent tutorial missions... good flight model, spins, take off, landings... flight, torpedo runs, landing on a carrier (took me 3 times in realisitc)... dynamic campaigns, missions, mission editor... 4 player co-op, force on force... first impressions are DAMN good, highly recommended, and just 40 bucks!

I might review this for SimHQ... most sim title I ever played. wink

I'm going to stop by Gamestop on my way to work this afternoon. Trading in MW3 that I bought last week, pissed at myself for buying it. Bought it out of boredom, only to to realize/remember how much I hate Call of Duty, since MW anyway.

lol I had to laugh at the BOS trailer I watched; it showed carrier landings and of course all the planes crashed while attempting to land. 'Ahem could we get some people in here who can fly these things?'

It took me like 5 tries to land on the carrier on simulation mode in cockpit view, mostly because I was listening to the tutorial advice on when to cut throttle etc which always had me coming in low and close to stalling, once I decided to fly it by feel I was able to land.

Definitely feels very sim like... reminds me of WOP but with more polished gameplay. Hope to play a lot more tonight, though I need to get some practice in for our iRacing SimHQ race on Sat, conflicting priorities....

ya me too, lol...

this game is hard... great USA campaign intro, good WW2 lesson with real footage... then the first mission Pearl Harbor... outstanding, looks like all the ships were in the right spot game wise... but I got killed, then tried a SP mission, destroy an airfield, succeeded but crash landed because of damage, on the enemy runway, lol. had no choice... very hard but fun. (first impressions)
