Thanks for the wishes everyone. I will be sure to pass them on to his family. Stewart, Frank was also a very proud Scotsman and my primary source for decent haggis which is hard to find down here lol

Weasy, i agree totally. As online competitors/friends we share so many highs and lows together that it forms a bond which few outside the community can understand. Like you i'm continually amazed how simulation gaming can provoke emotions and attachments every bit as strong at their real world counterparts. It's both a blessing and a curse but ultimately what makes this hobby quite unlike any other.

This was gutting news to hear about Frank and as tough as it was thanks for letting us know Darren.
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this trying time in their lives.

Frank was a great sim-racer and I loved racing GTL & GTR2 with him over at The ADC and was really glad when he joined us here at SimHQ for the ILMS series to represent Team ADC in the Ferrari.

R.I.P. Frank Baird

I am extremely saddened by this news. I knew Frank since my ADC debut in online simracing in 2007. In fact Frank's driven GTR2 F550 was the first ever car with human driver I had simtrack battle with. I passed him. Then he repassed me before end of race.

I had the luck to get to know Frank even more by some online chats and email exchanges on topics other than motorsport. We spend time talking about his farming business and horses or his photography. On other occasion I was talking to him on his wife's plans of travelling to Poland. Many times we adressed each other as friends during those conversations... He had a great sense of humour. I swear I always imagined this big, bearded guy deep laughter when he wrote some of his posts...

Tonight I feel that a good friend of mine has passed. A passionate simracer man , a though man, a hard working man, a family man, a great man.

Will miss you, Frank. We will...

EDIT: last time I raced Frank was last years Skodas finale. And this year we will finish at Knockhill. Knockhill was Frank's home track and he always was demon quick around there... I was sure he would not it miss it. Untill today...

What a terrible news. frown

As every one else who raced and chatted with Frank, I enjoyed every minute of it. And I feel so very sad that that is a thing of the past now. But I will never forget it.

My sincere condolences to his wife, children, family and friend.

R.I.P. Frank. You will be missed.

I know how you feel Darren.

I lost my dad to cardiac arrest 9 months ago and writing about him at SimHQ was not easy, but it was something I had to get out of my chest. I was in turmoil.

My condolences for your loss and to Frank's family. Cherish the memories you have with him.

Very sad news. I remember running a few with Frank, both here and ADC. Unfortunately this is part of life. My thoughts to his family and friends who knew him well.
Take care Frank.
