spOOk,

Its a known bug that has been reported on the thirdwire site.

There are 2 workarounds that I have found

1/ Hit autopilot as soon as it loaded. Its a bumpy takeoff and you lose the wingman but you can try and succeed on your own.

2/ The other solution is to change the game settings for the first mission only and set your start to " close to the target". Ive successfully done both.

The next mission I flew after the first successful 1 worked fine but was a 4 aircraft squad so dont know if that was the difference.

There is also a bug on the in flight map where the background is black. Reported as well. Im sure there are others but I'm no expert

I noticed ground vehicles driving over the sea areas, missiles unable to hit Tu-95 bombers (e.g. an F-14 is flying a few miles behind and firing all the missiles at it which keep missing) and occasional weird target designation problems which don't allow the missile to be fired, to name a few.

The game needs some more standard features; e.g. AWACS interaction (with the declare option), some basic ATC options, much more ground objects, more campaign options (more detailed briefings before the missions giving the overall status, etc. for more immersion)..

BTW, is there some kind of IFF on the F-4Es supported?

I also noticed that the cockpit view is rather constrained, especially when looking back. Is there some kind of a fix for that?

As for pan limitation, you can manually edit the file to make it wider, but I completely forgot which item to edit.

You won't be able to edit it until we can extract the _COCKPIT.INI later this week. It's the MinYaw= and MaxYaw= settings.

That's because they are jamming and dropping tons of chaff/flares.

The Bears are a solid gold pain in the ass to hit. If I engage them with Sparrows, I usually fire them in pairs at about 15 miles range, I usually have a better chance of hitting him.

Got a bit of a headscratcher on this one:

I'm on the 5th mission of the Tomcat campaign. I succesfully launch but then I blow up. Checking my outside views I see there's a Soviet task force steaming around, shooting of sams and other assorted weapons.........

LOL. You've run into the infamous 'repel boarders' bug. It's not you, everyone else is seeing it, too.

SimHQ review is done and waiting for publishing, by the way.

meh, got enough of the missing Sparrows, and thanks to some mods in the merged install I'm actually seeing chaff drop. so at one I decided to do things a little differently. Gun pass. I flamed his right outboard engine with a burst. Although the Bear I shot was still flying a couple of miles later I felt I had a good (extra) heat source and prepared to fire an AIM 9. It wasn't needed. Just as I got tone there was an explosion that blew off his right wing, and down he went.....
