I can't wait for CoD to be fixed. We'll all have FURBS to thank for it.

And I am grateful we have people like Furbs that love CoD so much that they post the truth

and risk the wrath of people like the one that started the 'Sunshine and rainbows' thread yep

"They post the truth" ?? All I've read is constant, impatient, irrational negativity. In the end its possible that they could be right, but there's a much better chance the development will be successful. There has been so much focus on what isn't working that many people miss the strong base that has been established from which to finish the sim. Having to rewrite the graphic code was in no doubt a major setback, but if the rewrite is successful it will free up system and personnel resources to fix and add the missing features. Anyone with half a brain knows its not all Sunshine and Rainbows, but its certainly not all Doom and Gloom either. What we have is the very strong possibility of the next benchmark in WW2 aircombat simming. Again the key is the Performance patch...I'd say there is an 80% chance of success and a 20% chance the bean counters will pull the plug to cut their losses.

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011

Chivas again ive never said it was all doom and gloom, ive praised CLOD where its due and said it can be fantastic sometimes, Just not enough and not enough where it counts.
Im pissed off at what i see is miss-management and sloppy, clumsy and down right stupid development decisions that have taken a flight sim series we all love with a large and loyal following and royally fecked it up.
Im pissed off that Oleg got bored and moved on.
Im pissed off that COD is a pig in lipstick.

I dont think Luthier has the same dedication and skill set that Oleg had and it shows and keeps showing with every passing month. Maybe he can build a team that can pull it round, Chivas and others think so and that's what they tell me.
I hope Luthier proves me wrong and bulds a flight sim series better than anything we have ever seen, i hope they do and i have to eat humble pie and wipe the egg off my face and say how very very sorry that i ever doubted Luthier, and i will be happy to do so.

Thats what i want.

Go check my posts before the Luthier take over Chivas and see how positive and full of praise i was, i wanted it to be the ground breaking, bar raising flight sim we thought Oleg was making, but its not, its far far from that.

I hope the patch will improve things, but if we still dont have the core aspects fixed all we will have is pig with lipstick on that can run faster.

Oleg couldn't get it done, now its up to Luthier to finish it. Its hard to say how miss-managed, sloppy, clumsy, and down right stupid the development decisions were, as we don't know the multitude of factors that made up their decisions. They could have been the best possible decisions given the circumstances. Oleg certainly didn't want to release the sim before it was finished, but I'm sure he didn't have any further options. #%&*$# happens, as it often does with all of us.

Furbs,

the problem is that you only imagine the mismanagement and the other faults of the developement team!

You actually see only the results and not the reasons why it happened this way.

As Chivas said, it might be that that what we did get, and have now, is really the best that was possible.

Chivas doesn't know that, i don't know it and you neither.

The people which know dont talk, the people which dont know do talk.

If one doesn't have all the necessary informations, one should be very careful with verdicts!!

In dubio pro reo!!!

A noble enough sentiment (although one of the most widely abused throughout legal history) but it is not easy when there seems to be more of the 'Vescere bracis meis' coming from the developers.

I think the problem now is some people are locked in an ever downward spiral of negativity, and it doesn't matter what the devs fix, people will just find something else to complain about.
Personally I enjoy CoD for what it is now, and hope it improves in the future. I can spend several months flying just one plane, am happy to find workarounds to current problems, such as the bugged bombsights, and can fly all night in ATAG without a CTD if I delete the cache first. Then again, I am an online flyer,so am not bothered about offline campaigns etc. I would have liked the old il2 QMB though! My glass is half full, whereas some others are half empty.Depends on your views I suppose.
I don't think il2 has ever done offline well. If I wanted offline BoB I would get BoB II, so I assume all you offline guys have that already? Pretty sure that is the benchmark BoB offline sim.
I read the reviews before I bought CoD, on the Russian sites, and knew it was porked, but bought it anyway, twice, the Russian version first, then the Euro D/L. Collectors Edition? Who would fall for that ubi inspired twaddle? A disc you didn't need (steam), a dishcloth map, and spitfire pilots notes I can buy cheap at a museum. If you did fall for that, you have my sympathies, but I have never fallen for marketing hype, I always look before I leap. Everyone I know cancelled the CE once they had read the reviews, and went for the D/L.
I have more than had my monies worth out of it. IMO of course.
