Are they asking for scans of old il2 cover art over at the CloD forums?

People are saying they are having posts deleted for mentioning pacific fighters?

Who's to say ?

Even Blacksix says he doesn't know. It seems bizarre to me that the company who released them hasn't got copies of their own artwork, or at least the contacts to retieve them if they subbed the work out.

Weak attempt to make customers focus on something else than the actual product while they have yet another russian holiday?
(do they only work 100 days of the year or whats up over there?)

I would guess for a IL2 collectors edition mega pack with everything in one huge box and then charge another 50 quid for it.

The more I read over at those forums the more I am convinced the whole thing [admin edit]

They [admin edit] about the state of the game before release and happily took our cash for a broken, half finished mess.

They released a couple of half-arsed "patches" then made the amazing statement they were moving on to Battle of Moscow. So far the only evidence of this is one aircraft (an Il2) and some terrain shots. No cockpit shots.

No customer support. Not wiff of a suggestion they are sorry they screwed over one of the most loyal customer fan bases in the history of PC gaming. No sense of embarrassment that they have dragged the name of one of the most loved sims through the mud.

This promised next patch is a big test.

If it's more smoke and mirrors, admit to yourself you've been had and vote with your feet.

Oh - and send an angry email to UBI. I did, and got a good response.

admin edit - okay to voice opinion but don't make accusations

Its not really the same company anymore. Oleg left, and they've hired new people. Who knows which of the old group is even still there.

What was the response from UBI?

Long story. But before the game was released it looked like the game was going to be shoved out the door without any marketing?

Remember? There was the half-arsed website set up. It had been confirmed out of the blue the game was about to be releaed by nobody was sure how or where you could buy the game.

Stupid me.

I actually wrote a very polite email to somebody senior at Ubisoft making a rather impassioned plea pointing out how the Il2 brand was loved by by a dedicated fanbase, etc etc. Asking them to make sure they released the game properly to make sure the marketing was properly funded and asking that they make it clear where and how the game could be bought.

Of course I now realise exactly why Ubisoft wanted to bury this game. They were embarrased at the state of the thing.

Anyway, I got a good response at the time. I don't want to specify what exactly, but it was pleasantly suprising at the time.

But the moral of the story is if you can get in touch with senior people and approach them politely and not like some kind of nutter you can sometimes get results.

And believe me. If this next patch is a dud, I will be going straight back through the channels I used last time to express my disgust.
