It seems like the next stand alone ,after two new DLCs, in Achtung Panzer series is going to be Khalkhin Goal where the Russian and Japanese armies fought . It is not a well known battle but has important impacts on overall outcome of the war as Japan had to cancel its plan on Russia and focus on the Pacific theater.

I am not sure if it is the best option but it is going to be an interesting one.

"Nomonhan" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomonhan_Incident

EDIT If the below is correct it's pretty interesting. Never heard of it until now, will be good to find out about it.

It is certainly also studied for its contrast of Japanese vs. Russian strategic doctrines and high-level command vs. low-level initiative/adaptation. It is also interesting as one of the early tests of armoured mobile tactics (very important 3-4 years later)!

It's a politics moment biggrin

Japan forces attacks from japan owned settlement Nomonghan, Soviet - from river ("Gol" from Mongolian is a "river") Khalkha.
In Russian literature it's a Battle on Khalkhin Gol, in Japan (American) its a Nomonghan incident.

Well I always heard about it as some foot note border incident without a name. biggrin Should prove vary interesting and something a bit different (which is GOOD I think). I do find it sort of odd that to the best of my knowledge no one has done anything with the Spanish civil war either. But the ww2 lot are odd usually totally focused on 1 or 2 years of the war and nothing else. I think they cheat themselves with that view.........but eh whatever, to each their own.
