Gentlemen,

Happy New Year to All!

JRT

I'm sure there will be a crash site - just be patient. Can you recommend a good Jim Beam cocktail? ;\)

McG,

This OFF thing...I would start looking round for a discount CFS3 but a 13 hour download is'nt my bag. Has any enterprising gent produced a CD?

Folks,

Dux:

The joys of the season to you and to lady "J" as well. \:\)

Indeed, I can certainly recommend to all and sundry a good Jim Beam cocktail, and VERY highly. ;\)

As for me I generally lean toward 100 proof Wild Turkey or a nice single malt Scotch whiskey if I have my preference. Black Jack (Jack Daniels black label)ain't a bad sippin' drink either. Did you know that only spirits distilled in Kentucky may be labeled Bourbon?

At the moment my favorite cocktail is the Margarita and that has no whiskey. Try these:

Kentucky Wildcat recipe

1/2 oz Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey
1/2 oz Southern Comfort peach liqueur
1/2 oz Yukon Jack Canadian whisky
1/2 oz Jim Beam bourbon whiskey
2 oz sweet and sour mix
2 oz Coca-Cola
Pour ingredients over ice in a highball glass, and stir gently. Garnish with a twist of lemon, and serve.

Depressed Goalie recipe

3 1/2 oz Jim Beam bourbon whiskey
2 oz Pepsi cola
2 oz Mountain Dew citrus soda
ice
Fill a mason jar with ice. Pour over the whiskey (Jim Beam). Then add the Pepsi and Mountain Dew. Mix if desired.

Beam Mint Julep
1 part JIM BEAM Bourbon
Pinch of granulated sugar
Splash of water
Finely crushed ice
Fresh mint leaves
In a Collins glass, muddle mint leaves with sugar in a splash of water. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add the JIM BEAM Bourbon. Stir contents until the glass becomes frosty, adding more ice if necessary. (Don't hold the glass in your hand while stirring). Garnish with sprigs of mint.

Dux, old chap, push come to shove, I think we can find an arrangement.

Mind looking in on the boys from the OFF squadron further down the board first, to see if anyone nearer to your location could be persuaded to hop on a bicycle with a CD (or two, at the rate the developers are firing off patches)?

Otherwise drop me a pm, and we'll figure it out.

Happy New Year boys!

As a year closes and another begins here we are at HWH, still passing gas and a few words of wisdom. Amazing, realizing this all started in April of 2001?

SALUTE!

The SNAFU's brought the new year in with family in Pennsylvania.

I hope this year brings freedom and peace loving people closer to total victory over the terrorists.

V

Good to hear C51 has WOV. I know he will enjoy it.

Folks,

SNAFU:

I hope all is well in SNAFU-Land. We wish you all the happiest of New Years. It may be damp and gray there today as it is here and you may be worried about your sick loved one but in no time at all the USS SNAFU will be churning the calm waters of the Bay with a bright sun above, a happy crew and a brave skipper. Mark my words pal it will get better and I know 'cause I've been there twice. \:\)

Gentlemen,

JRT,

Those are really mouth-watering concoctions. Thanks for going to the trouble of typing them ut. I'll try the mint julip job tonight although I will have to scrape some ice from the fridge. Will report back!

McG,

Thanks for your kind offer and advice. Didn't know there was an OFF site yet.

SNAFU,

All the best to you and yours for 2006!

Folks,

Dux:

Looks like someone we know got a bottle of good booze for Christmas. Add more sugar if you like. Some like it sweeter. If we don't hear from you for several days we'll know why. ;\)

Now although it requires no whiskey a Margarita is hard cocktail to beat if you use a 100% blue Agave Tequila to make it. Absolutely lethal in quantity though. \:\)

JRT,

Afraid I failed on the Julip. All I could find after staggering around the garden at some late ungodly hour with a torch were just a few shrivelled, manky, snow-starved mint leaves. Then chipped away at excess ice in the freezer which is more difficult than it sounds and after retrieving most of it from the pantry floor made up the rest.
Will try again with better mint and more ice.

For the Depressed Goalie; will orange or lemon soda be OK?

Bought a Badger airbrush today and have conducted some fairly successful tests with water-soluble paint thinned down about 70%...too much I think but have got the hang of it now.

Folks,

Dux:

You must have fresh mint leaves and lotsa crushed ice. I have a machine that crushes ice cubes and it makes ice for cocktails perfectly plus a heck of a lot of head-splitting racket in the bargain. You may not like Juleps. The Mint Julep is an authentic old southern tradition however. That is why I included it. \:\)

Any Cola drink is OK. Pepsi is sweeter than Coke. Mountain Dew is a Pepsi product. And I suppose any mild citrus drink like Mello-Yello will likely do. I'm not sure what you have over there. I think 7-Up or Sprite will not be the same as they have a different taste. Experiment. ;\)

All,

Well JR2 I have resisted as long as I can. You may recall my being a football fanatic AND that I cheer for the Big Blue Wrecking Crew that is the New York Giants. Seems that those same Giants are fixin to square off against a certain team from your neck of the woods. The Carolina Panthers I beleive they are called. While I have high hopes of my Giants puttin a real arse woopin on those Panthers I do want to wish you good luck in the spirit of sportmanship and teamplay.

GO GIANTS!!

Let the best team win.
