Hello
Currently using TM Warthog in directX mode
Flying with latest patch
No problems with the stick. Or the Sim
Question
I have assigned the paddle switch button#4 on the stick as my modifier
I would like to use Mike down button on the throttle to send a “keyboard key” to activate my
“VAC program” but still keep The original A-10-C radio function

Original: Mike button
Modified” “Scroll key”

How do I accomplish this?
I can’t get past assigning the modifier button.
Whhere in the controls box do I add the modifier?
I have read the manual and looked at the board here.
But I’m just net getting it thru my head.
Any help would be appreciated.
Bonnex

bonnex -
Here are some screenies I was able to capture with Fraps -

The Landing Gear is a modified switch

First I made the stick's (unused) Paddle Switch a Modifier

Then I open the Add window for the *throttle* and put the Modifier in, and then the HOTAS switch/button (21)

Here's what it looks like when done

Thanks for the quick reply WC
But how do you add a "KEYBOARD KEY"? Right now all I can input is a button. In the throttle I would like to have the
"ScrOll Lock key" generated with the modifier.
Does this Make sence?
Thanks again

Ahhh, you have to program that in the VAC program.

It's like I want Mic Up to activate the Teamspeak - I cannot do that assignment in A-10C - I have to assign Mic Up in Teamspeak.

Some programs won't see the DirectX buttons. For instance, I want to assign the Mic Up also to Fraps audio capture but Fraps can't see the WH Throttle buttons.

Hope that helps...

Right.... I think that's the problem
Vac does not accept dx button only keyboard commands to activate. Right now I'm having reach for the keyboard to turn it on-off.

So in other words Thru A10-C using the warthog in direct x mode I can't assign a generic keyboard command ie x,y,z, etc. thru the modifier button. Is this correct.?
Thanks again

Bonnex,

No, not through A-10C. A-10C maps controller inputs to in-game functions. Pressing the Scroll Lock key is not an in-game function.

You could use T.A.R.G.E.T. to map one of the buttons to a keyboard key command, but I'm not very familiar with utility.

Bonnex -
You can assign any (preferrably unused) HOTAS button as a Modifier - such as Mic Up, Throttle's Microstick In, Stick's Paddle Switch. The Modifier allows you to assign it with another HOTAS button to perform an additional function.

In my example above, I assigned the Gear Up/Down to the same Throttle button as the L/G WRN 'Silence' button. The Modifier Paddle Switch lets me use the 'Silence' button for a second function - the gear.

I think you're thinking that the Modifier assignment will also trigger that key to do what it would normally do by itself in addition to the HOTAS button doing what it normally does - no, it doesn't work like that.

You can probably use the TM HOTAS Target program to do what you want, but I don't use it, never have. Teej is an expert on that.

Keep the questions coming in case I'm still not giving the answers you need.

Thanks Eistein
I was afraid of that.
Having the Warthog in directx mode, working so great with A-10C right out of the box.
No way I'll make a TARGET file...for this sim
I'll just have to make due.
Thanks for all the info

bonnex, go and download Helios. When that's done, do the following:

1. Go to Helios and click Profile > Add Interface
2. Add DCS A10C and your TM Warthog throttle
3. On the bottom-center of the Helios window, where it says Bindings, click the Output tab
4. On the Actions window, open your Interfaces > Keyboard and on the Bindings window, select the button you want (verify with the image on the top-center of the Helios window), in my example I used Button 2 which is Mic Switch In
5. Drag the "send keys" from the Actions window onto the button you want (in my case, button 2)
6. On the Value box under the Properties window, enter the PTT button you have set your VAC profile on, in my example it is Right ALT so I put in RALT

Here is a picture of step #6 for clarification:

Each time the Button 2 is pressed, Helios will make it seem like you just pressed your VAC PTT button.

Hope that helps!

In CH Control Manager you can change each individual button/axis to run either DX mode or a button assignment...does TARGET not allow that?

Or maybe I'm not understanding the question clearly...
