Hi all,


I have a new pc build and I am trying to set perfect mode in my config file. I have a monster system Win 7 (64 bit), i7 2400k, gtx 570, 16gig ram.... so I know my hardware can handle it. Further I have been playing FB since 2003 and have modded the config file and installed many, many times.

There was some confusion with an individual, so as to not repeat it, I am starting my install with a store purchased version 4.07 [il2 1946] cd.

But for some reason this time my config file keeps resetting after I start il2 fb. I had the game on my old pc in xp so maybe this is a win 7 thing.
This is the path

D:\Flight Sim\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\il2fb.exe

Win 7 is on the C drive (two separate physical HDDs)

Here is what I have done.... updated to 4.11. Then open config file and edit in render open gl the hardware shaders to 1. Run the game. Perfect mode is greyed out. Reopen config file and it is reset to 0.

any help please.... I am going nuts

Figured it out.... somehow my colorbits was 16 and not 32

after you change the file goto properties and write protect it. do not change the resolution while in game.

Yep, that's most of the problem right there is going into the setup and having a look in-game. That will check everything over and re-write the config if it's "wrong". In this case 16bit will no do so it went back on Perfect mode

Curious what sort of render errors you might have with that mode enabled at 16bit.
