My Dad has a decent PC but he's not PC literate, he has stuff installed from programs that opt you in for things like Google Chrome and well when I go to work on his PC it's usually impossible to get it to do what I take for granted and it's frustrating for both of us.
That being said I installed a new vid card and also the latest Nvidia Drivers because it immediately had some issues between the new card which was a significant upgrade (GTX 550 Ti) and the MB chipset drivers (also nvidia) so okay, no problem installed from fresh and it was fine first time I fired up Rise of Flight but then I tweaked the graphic settings and now Track IR looks straight down into the seat and won't respond properly in game. I can look around manually but Tir won't even center, other than that the graphics look fine but TIr is borked, anyone got a clue? on a side note when you start Free Flight in FSX it immediatly puts up the nav compass screen and we couldn't figure out how to get out of it. I thought maybe his Saitek X-52 was throwing stray keys but that turned out to be fine. I may have to spend a day playing on it so I can get his settings straight but the Track Ir problem is a new one and everything was working before I installed the new card. screwy

Sounds a bit 'USB Gone Wild!'. It might be worth unplugging all peripherals and trying to narrow it down from there - perhaps the updated MB chipset drivers are bust or incompatible.

Only other thing I can think of is to track in the TrackIR client that you see the 3 wee dots, i.e. I've had a LED in the clip die on me once that confused me for a long time till I checked that.

I'm not sure that helps, but good luck!

Maybe check the "heat screen" in TIR and see if you have an unwanted light source now... Just a sun spot on the wall can wreak havoc.

It's the newest model which confused me because it has no blue light and I don't think it's a light source because it worked fine before in the room, it certainly is baffling.

Mine kept going out yesterday afternoon, and it was working earlier in the day. Turns out that although I have a black sheet over the window behind me, I had my fan on and that was causing the sheet to move around a little while the sun was coming down. This was causing some IR to leak in through the sheet's fabric and was messing up the TIR as it got later in the afternoon and the sun went lower.

I had this exact same problem, loaded up rof and track ir would not center, I was looking back at an angle. It was not trackir all other games worked no problem, DCS, ARMAII, in the end I uninstalled and reinstalled as I could not figure out how to get it to "center" properly. I don't recall making any changes to my system prior to the problem either..

hope you fix it.

One odd feature I have with TR5 is that often the first time I turn it on it refuses to get a proper horizontal line for the head position. I have to turn it off and turn it back on often two or three times and then all is OK. My normal routine is to go first to camera view as this tells me if there is an extra light source somewhere., It is amazing how little extra light is needed to throw the system out.

make sure it is set properly to the hat clip or the headphone clip, I've made that mistake before
