Take On Helicopters' Cougar now available

Whirlybirds and grease monkeys - Bohemia Interactive has released a major new patch for their latest game, Take On Helicopters.
Applying update 1.04 - codenamed Cougar - will refine the experience of flying across the wide variety of helicopter gameplay
by implementing a massive upgrade to the flight model.
It also brings an initial introduction to Java scripting and lifts all DRM-restrictions for users of legitimate installations.

Thanks for the news!

I installed the patch 1.04 and here's my initial feedback:
-> Flight model is considerably BETTER! Finally it's now possible to hover without using the "autohover" and it's possible to fly fowards or backwars at very low speeds and maintain those same low speeds. It seems that the exageration that your helicopter either constantly accelerates to decelereates (without being possible or being too hard to maintain a very slow speed) is either solved or vastly improved.
Also the exagerated ground effect when your helicopter aproached the ground and would automatically climb something like 50 feets is finally solved, great news as well!

Nevertheless I'm disapointed with one thing: the "medium helicopter" (the pseudo-Bell 412) is STILL MADE OR CRYSTAL!!
Really, doesn't BIS play their games?? One just need to fly the "medium helicopter" for 15 minutes or even less to instantly notice that's something wrong with it! The helicopter damages by itself even without the player pushing hard manouvers with it! For example the longer you fly with the "medium helicopter" the more the tail rotor becomes damaged (REALLY, it's tail rotor damages by itself!!) and after flying something like 15 minutes (mayble less, maybe a little more) it comes to a point where this "medium helicopter" completly loses tail rotor authority (even if everything seems OK, at least visually).
I remember to have given a similar feedback to BIS regarding this same helicopter, something seems to have been done but definitly not enough!! Basically the "medium helicopter" is unplayable at this moment, specially if a mission takes long....

Well I got the game based on this patch. So far I really like it. I've only done the first two missions and the post above has me a little concerned. But the light heli flies somewhat like a helicopter. And I found some settings that killed the stutters. I still prefer XPlane for real world practice and DCS for general plinking but this fits nicely between the two.

Um,I never had any issues with the medium heli. (I haven't tried the patch yet, but you said it "still" does this.) Sure your not over-torquing. It seems somewhat prone to this.

It's VERY, VERY strange that you never had any problems with the Medium helicopter since I can Reproduce these issues something like 100% of times!
Are you sure that you're playing on "Expert" dificulty or that you played enough time with the Medium helicopter (more than a simple "5 minute trip").

I always had this problem with this medium helicopter but in previous version if I was very carefull with the helicopter (treat the helicopter like it was actually "made of glass") I could play and end missions with the medium helicopter without too many extensive strutural damage. But now with version 1.04 things are MUCH WORSE, even if you treat the medium helicopter "gently" it will inevitably get damage by itself specially loosing tail rotor authority which is a thing that didn't happen (tail rotor "stuff") in previous version 1.02 for example.

Just try the following:
-> With patch 1.04 installed play a "lift cargo" single player scenario/challenge with the medium helicopter and tell me if you can end that challenge without loosing the tail rotor and at least end it without extensive "strutural" damage!!

Honestly this is so easily reproducible since with the "light" and "heavy" helicopters you don't get that kind of exagerated and unrealitic damage like you have with the medium helicopter!
